Our Neighbors

Every morning when we wake up we look out our windows to see if the cows are there. Occasionally we will see our black and white neighbors chewing away. It is so fun, they are so close we would be able to touch them if it weren't for the hedge that sits between us.

Rylie's Teething Face

Okay so I will be the first to admit the "teething" stage is awful. Nothing but whining, tears, cries, waking up in the middle of the night, poor things are in so much pain. But it does have its laughable moments too. Like the sweet faces they make to ease their pain.

Calke Abbey

Taking 4 kids out can make a simple outing feel like an expedition!

We have seen signs posted for Calke Abbey all over the place so yesterday we decided we needed to get out of the house (our US shipment had come, and we were up to our necks in boxes) and be adventurous. We followed the signs until we made it there. It was beautiful. The surrounding countryside was breathtaking, I have never in my life seen so many different shades of green. Unfortunately Savannah got into it with some "stinging nettle." As she was running through a meadow to get an up close look of deer she ran right into a grove of "stinging nettle." Poor thing, the most incredible thing is that always growing near stinging nettle is its antidote. A broad shaped leaf that you rub with all your might on top of the sting and it goes away almost instantly, nature is amazing. But never is Sav one to leave the drama out, she shouts out, why do these ugly things exist!? We really enjoyed the scenery though, a huge home, a beautiful cathedral, and Carson's favorite SHEEP!

Madison's song

Please excuse me for the story but I can't resist, I laughed so hard. Rylie was sitting on the kitchen floor while I was making dinner. She, as always, started to fuss. The little mother Maddie came running in from the other room sat on the floor besides Rylie and began singing one of her many "made-up" songs. The melody was sweet but the words, well...you decide. "Rylie is sitting on her ass, she's sitting on her ass. Yes, Rylie is sitting on her ass!" Before she could go any further I had to get clarification, never having said the phrase myself I had to know if that was truly what she was saying. Oh yes, that was what she was saying. Where did you hear that from? Spiderman was the answer! I thought maybe Uncle Brad or Papa, but no spiderman was the culprit!

Summer Slideshow

Thanks for the idea Leslie! Here is a slideshow of all our summer fun. We enjoyed Hawaii, Utah, Arizona, Bear Lake, and all the reunions with old friends!

Baby Rylie eating a rusk

Rylie is taking a bit out of her first rusk. She loves them! I couldn't resist how adorable she looked so I had to run and grab the camera.

Griffydam, England

We are now in England! Sorry it has been soooo long since I have posted anything. For awhile there everything turned Japanese, and I couldn't figure out how to set everything back to English. Oh it is good to be in a country that speaks the same language. Although I am still getting used to calling shopping carts-trolleys, diapers-nappies, and as Sav just found out in school erasers are rubbers! Anyway, here are just a few pictures to give you an idea of how beautiful the English countryside is. These are pictures of our view just outside our bedroom window. Aren't we lucky?!
