i have been silent for too long....sorry, but i don't have any fun news....which i understand is no excuse. things are good, life is mostly good and simple, this morning i had the feeling of pending doom because things seem too good. dark thought, i know.
we have two little pups staying with us while our landlord is in europe. just watched miles, the 5 pound dog, hump his bed. gross. tonight i have been cruising craigslist for some city living options - very appealing and finding some good options. we had been in the mindset that the city could not offer us everything we need within our price range, but i have been pleasantly surprised. affordable apartments with parking, laundry, dog friendly and a park nearby do exist in this city! i think we will be touring some places this weekend. i'm craving some street noise and walking to shops & restaurants...maybe even walk to work. last night i was waiting for my bus at work and realized that i LOVE that smell of the city. which is basically the smell of pollution. i dig.
ben has been engrossed in his documentary the past couple weeks. its a film about avalanche safety/backcountry skiing. his narrator/partner has been in town twice in the past month working on it 24/7. i have watched it, or some version of it, no less than 50 times. watching it evolve has been impressive and ben has done a great job. makes me think i should get a hobby. now he begins the marketing packet and sending to film festivals. i plan to help find ways of distribution after it hits the film circuit and (cross your fingers) gains some recognition. this was his major project when he was planning on focusing on his own company, talking pictures...but with the way life has happened this past year, it has become the side project. excited to see what comes of it, and so proud that he followed through. at the very least, colorado will love it!
tomorrow night we are going out with some friends in the city to a dinner party. the email exchange around this party has been amazing. seems like everyone is trying to one up each other with the dish they will be bringing. i am bringing a hunk of brie cheese, its too exhausting, and i cannot compete. still excited to ring in the new year!
work goes well for me. i still love what i am doing. today i was forced to be reflective and do my self review. it was interesting to think back to where i was 9 months ago to where i have come today - i was thinking professionally, but it also got me thinking about everything else that has happened over the past year, time flew and i am so happy to be here now.
christmas was a success. johanna is a total freak, just like her mom. (by freak, i mean amazing) her love for heels and all things girly is hilarious. brooke, with another one you will need to step up your girliness, and luke - good luck. mary and friedie were so fun. living close has been a treat for me, and it was apparent in utah. waking up on christmas morning with two little curly heads jumping on your bed with immediate smiles and singing jingle bells is completely satisfying....even if it is 6 am. mom cooked delicious meals, i will never master that chicken salad. i beat the boys at hearts, per usual. had good talks with dad and watched househunters with mom (if you don't watch it, don't start...its on all the time and its awesome). meanwhile ben was here editing the documentary, but it made for another christmas celebration when i returned sunday, and extending christmas is no problem in my book.
i guess i did have things to share. here is a photo of ben and jack....because no post is complete without a picture.
love to all!
