Merry Day after Christmas!

first off...he got it for me. The pink chromo iPod it changes songs when shook and it has video abilities. so cooler than my black nano from 3 years ago. I'm loving it. and it matches my camera...now to get a case for the crack berry so it matches too!

speaking of crackberry. left my browser open to blogger and I was found out by Steve...well kinda. it was on a profile of someone else who had left a note on my blog and he asked who had a blog and when i got quiet he asked if i had one and i said maybe. is it bad that i dont want him to know about it?? is it bad that i feel so good knowing this is one thing the people i know personally don't know about? it really made me wonder a lot of things. of course once again..how secret can my blog really be? gotta go clean up and get some scrapping in before the islanders game tonight. i'll leave a few pics from the past few days.

hope everyone had a merry christmas!!! (or hannukah!) keep the holiday sprit alive for a few extra days!! leave the trees up, keep the lights on and don't toss out the egg nog or cookies! this is the most magical time of the year and I wish people held onto it longer.

Halle-Freaking-Lujah!!!!

I have 11 glorious and wonderful days off this week!!! Who's excited?@?!??!?!?!? ME! ME! ME!!!!!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!!

ok enough of that....time for the official Laura's Teacher Gifts Christmas List. I'd rank them in order of what I like the most..but that would be mean. kinda. ok....

-a handle of bacardi mojito. No joke. a HANDLE like a bigger bottle than most bars have from one of my lil 5th graders...ok more from his mom who used to sub in our building.

- 2 of the same CD. Its a promotional CD but the cutest thing was one girl who drew inside "I hope you get some (staff with a whole rest) this christmas." I liked it. it was cute.

-J.Jill Giftcard, I bought 1 thing there for a friend...very above my price range. maybe they'll have some fancy earrings.

-panera giftcard. SWEET cause my addiction can be filled.

-DD GC. (GC=gift card) Now...I got one of these from a student and as my christmas bonus because my job couldn't afford to give us our typical big $35 bonuses this year afetr all the crap that went down with the budget at the beginning of the year. OH And love how they have a pastor (the one I'm friends with of course) take a new position in Wisconsin and leave and are now looking for a 3rd pastor to fill his position when the church is MORE than fine with 2 pastors. ugh. stupidity of the Lutheran Church. And my pastor wonders why I don't show up every sunday. I'll pray and believe my own way. The institution bothers me.

- ornaments...standard. a couple of pretty gold music notes which will hang on the wall year round in my room. and 3 instrument clad snowmen.

- an "asian" perfume set. cute...but i may be allergic. we'll see.

- about 5 things from Bath and Body Works. Though thoughtful for a female teacher I am one in like a hundred people that's allergic to stuff from BBW. WHICH I learned when I worked there for 6 months and continuously broke out from their products and still have the scars on my shoulders/back to prove it. YAY!

- a really cool compact mirror with beads on it. practical. and a nail file with it. cool.

- candy. of course. always

- a shoe bank...with music notes on it and a matching picture frame. VERY COOL. my boyfriend felt upstaged by this kid

- stuffed animals..cute but I have so much crap already. I'll be donating a whole lot of stuff come the new year.

- a HUGE Bath and Body set from a drug store. NICE caddy it came on but again...I'll be allergic. I don't even chance it anymore.

- Pat got me a Michaels giftcard (SCORE) and the scarf I liked at Utopia (local store by work that has quite some interesting stuff including an 18+ section which you MUST show ID to get into and has an "ADULT section" and a section with lots of paraphernalia...for recreational purposes....yea.) It was great because I actually went and bought Pat a hat from Utopia last night when i found out he was buying me a gift. I do however need to get a nice winter jacket to match the scarf. yes this is how my mind works.

- a GIANT popcorn tin. I wondered who bought these...and apparently my secret santa did for me! Big up to Nat...I haven't had one of these since i was a kid and honestly I liked them growing up..even if the popcorn is kinda stale i like flavored things.

- a really pretty frame/ornament and an air freshner...wonder if they're trying to say something!?

- another instrument picture frame from my ex's mom and an ornament about friends being a blessing. It was really nice. I love that she still is a friend after all the crap that happened between me and him.

I think that was it. Tomorrow I will be taking the day to bake rainbow cookies. I have orders from SO many people so I figure maybe tomorrow I'll also run around with them delivering. Tomorrow night I'm going to Steve's for Christmas Eve and then church. Christmas is the next day. Its amazing to think of all the things that have happened in the past year, literally from one Christmas to another. Thank you to those who have been reading and commenting and even to those who just read this. I really do write this blog for me, but its nice to know that people care enough to read it, even if we've never met! I don't think that I could ask for a better place right now...well with the exception of the job..BY THE WAY!!! PHONE INTERVIEW ON MONDAY! kinda a Christmas miracle...not gonna lie.

ok....time to get to target with my dad to finish up shopping for my mom. as she started crying. literally crying over how we shouldn't be going out because she didn't buy a lot for him...Honestly we're gonna buy like 3 things...and then wrapping paper and come home to wrap. maybe we'll just go to the CVS by my house instead.

There's a few surveys I've found on some new blogs I'm starting to follow so look forward to the fun of those!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Christmas Parties at Work

No. I'm not talking about the lampshade drunk...who slept with who in the front closet...boss promises everyone a raise kind of parties. I'm talking the little kids bringing in TONS of sugary treats and sipping juice boxes as you watch your students socialize and remember that they're only little kids who really do incredible things.

Today is my Beginner Band party. At Christmas I only throw them a party because the Middle School goes on a trip and has an entire non-class day devoted to activities and parties. The beginners at Christmas are only the 5th graders, they are all about 9 or 10, and I forget as a band director how cute they can be when I'm not begging them to spend more time practicing.

I only had 1 student bring in juice packs and a tray of cookies though, and although this would be enough for every student to have 2 cookies and 1 juice pack...that's not enough for all of their hard work in my eyes. So what do I do? Run to the grocery store and buy $35 worth of crap. Iced cookies...mini cupcakes. and extra 2 packs of juice boxes (I've finally learned these are the best option when having a little kid party...less mess and everyone has the same amount!) I'm hoping a few of them show up with some goodies. And I always feel bad that I can't afford to get them all presents. My paycheck here isn't big and I'm barely making my credit card bills lately especially after my recent car repairs and accident after the repairs. I'd love to get them all ornaments and decorate them...but who has the time at this time of the year to decorate 30 ornaments for kids who will probably forget who their music teacher is in ten years...or maybe the ornament is how they'd remember. I don't know.

The problem is....there are SOOOO many of these little christmas parties going on throughout the building in the next couple of days that it almost loses its charm AND it causes a weight gain of an immediate 4 pounds...SO many leftovers tossed n the faculty room that everytime you go to the bathroom you leave with a cookie or a piece of cake...yes its a matter of willpower...but its also the holidays and one last sugar cookie with peppermint icing wouldn't KILL ME! right?!?!?!

Anywho...I'll be attending a small soiree with dome real cuties in a few minutes so please excuse me...the conversations are always hysterical...I'll try to remember a few to post.

what i figured out i want for christmas

nano chromatic pink ipod with 16MB of space (4000 songs)however I feel like its too much to be asking Steve for. I told him I want it but that its too much. I know he disagrees. whatever.

stalking my email

I'm sitting in a trumpet lesson that I have slammed my head against the wall for three months with the kids and I'm over it. I applied for a new job last night at 1Am that I got an email from a friend about. Similar to the JALC position and of course now I'm stalking my email waiting to hear. Keeping my fingers crossed.

a relaxed saturday...for the first time in weeks. actually months

no school work to get done. no deadlines to meet. just slept in late and have been watching movies on TBS all morning. i made steve dinner last night for the first time ever. simple herb seasoned chicken with linguine and broccoli sauteed/steamed. It came out pretty good. I was happy with it and he enjoyed it which is what I hoped for. We opened a bottle from our winery trip and he was so excited by how good it tasted especially because he was sick that day of the tour so he reallly didnt get to fully experience the taste. next time i think im making some kind of beef. he asked for a roast beef or something to the effect of a roast which i've never done before.

interesting comment last night. which i'm not sure whether to be excited over or scared or confused or anything. my first reaction was actually kinda frightened. after dinner....well...we're all adults here. at least I hope...anyway. We were laying around and talking about my clumsy nature. He went to say "how am I dating such a klutz" but it came out "How am I married to..." and the sentence pretty much ended there. He said that apparently the guys at work ask him all the time how his wifey is, and when we're moving in together and when he's gonna pop the question. He said he even refers to me as "the wife" at work. Most of his co-workers are older, almost our parents age some of them, and they're all married or re-married. Ever since we started seeing each other they really took to me and realized that they want me to stick around..they've told me. It was definitely a nice thought last night, but I'm keeping my head on about it. I've already been told I'm not even getting a necklace for Christmas.

OH speaking of....I still have NO idea what to get him. Which is making me crazy! So today and tomorrow is all about that. me trying to figure out what to get him. I'd love to make him a scrap book, but I don't know....seems kinda soon. maybe I'll get a bunch of lax pics and make another frame...he has nothing on his walls practically and I saw a nice Mets Shea Stadium commemorative wall hanging. but I don't know if that's enough meaning. first Christmas together...I don't know. Anyone here have any ideas? He told me I do more than enough and give him more than enough of me on a daily basis but I still need to have something for him under the tree.

wednesday rant at 6:56 AM

I woke up late...to my mom going "DO YOU WANT ME TO TURN ON YOUR LIGHT?! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!" as she threw multiple questions at me without getting answers. what's my problem? the fact that it is 6AM and I've been working on a project for school for 2 weeks now and barely sleeping, my concert is less than a week away and I can't keep up with changing scores for the kids, oh and my throat feels like I've been swallowing gasoline all night. so thanks for a lil compassion mom. I'll get up now. and No. I don't want you to turn on my light...that's the most obnoxious thing you can do in the morning.

honey mead

bought one bottle at the ren faire...why didn't i buy more? so tastey. played a concert that really wasn't that important to me, but 4 measures into the first piece I felt the tears welling up that my parents didn't come and steve's away. i know i've been moaning and whining about this for days now. but i am seriously nothing but upset. and i think i got him pissed off at me because of a text...

Steve: hope the concert went well. don't stress out about the paper you'll get it done
me: it's snowing!
me:concert went well, a few mistakes, trumpets. pssshhhhh. but otherwise good. heading home now. glass of wine and my computer!
steve: oh sounds like fun have a good time
me: No. a fun saturday night would have been laying around in bed agyer I cooked you dinner and dessert and we celebrated being together for 6 months
steve: i know i suck my bad
me: Stop. that's not what I said.
me: you know i hate when you get down on yourself like that.
steve: yeah well if i was gonna be away the least i could have done was shot a deer
me: stop. as long as you had a good time. its my fault anyway...if you weren't thinking about me...i'm kidding.

and i haven't heard back from him. i hate not hearing back. i am such a whiney lil girl sometimes.

back to my wine. siiiiip.

pretzels

a few weeks ago my mom asked if there was anything i wanted from the grocery store. and i said "pretzels". she called me twice from the grocery store to ask what type of pretzels and my response was "regular pretzels mom. the ones shaped like pretzels." she came home with "pretzel" shaped pretzels but they were honey mustard flavored, not that i don't like those ones but do you know how many calories get added to my low cal snack? AND besides the mustard ones...she also came home with thin tiny pretzel sticks. not rods. sticks. but these are plain, so the closest to what i've wanted. i'm currently eating the serving size-15 sticks. yum.

other possible job options...

- baker
- winery tour guide or operator or wine-o.
- B&B keeper
- social studies teacher-one single subject, the same lessons half the day and the other half a second lesson. not as hard as what i do. and it can't be cut.
- candy maker
- personal assistant. i make good coffee
- receptionist---if pam can do it i can. i'd make more money that way
- admin in a college for the registration department, basically did that during my under grad.
- professional blogger. guess it doesn't exist
- photographer...except my photos arent anything spectacular
- scrapbooking business owner
- pro scrapbooker. you bring me pics and i scrap them for you. i don't think i'm good enough to do it yet though.
- tour manager for john mayer. i'm dreaming i know. ok. jack johnson? no? damn.
- vocalist of a blondie cover band. i'll dye my hair. no i won't.
- professional shopper.
- paris hilton. she doesn't do ANYTHING. can I do that? my face is not shaped like a foot!

ugh. i'm not happy with the outcome of this week for school. concert tonight. that i don't want to play. had 2 beers last night that i shouldn't have had but i knew dave needed company. freaked out and got really upset last night over steve being gone. it hurts a lot. yesterday was our 6 month anniversary and i talked to him at 12 last night for about 10 minutes in which he apologized 6 times for not calling earlier and not being here and not even talking to me on our anniversary. i told him it was ok, but inside i just want him home already. shoot a damn deer and get your butt home. i know i'm being selfish. i'm blaming my period for it. listening to ray lamontagne. love him. but its just making me more mopey. thought the trumpet lines in "you can bring me flowers" is to die for. SO subtle and sweet but drenched in wine and sadness. can i be a music critic? would rolling stone hire me?

twitter

besides trying twentysomethingbloggersonlinewhateveritiscalledtoolongofanamebutthat'sokbecausethelinkisinmysavedfavorites.com I am also recently obsessed with twitter.com, which is similar to facebook's status, but unlike facebok is ONLY a status bar. its fun. so far. kinda weird how people you don't know "follow" you but then again....isn't that what we do here on our blogs?

my youngin' friends.

when i taught at my student teaching position I ended up leaving with a few really good friends...and I'm not talking teachers, I'm talking students. the town that I taught in was a blue collar neighborhood, middle class, run of the mill kind of a town. practically the same as what I'd grown up in. It was public school---where things are always good---and there was a music department that did things. that had enough teachers that no one was wishing they never became a music teacher. that had kids who came in at 6:30AM ready and rarin' to go. that had girls who understood "just because its typically a "boy who does this" doesn't mean I can't" which I loved. Those were my girls. There was a group of 4 of them in band. two flutes, a sax player and a percussionist. at first I thought that the one flute hated me. and I did whatever I could to be super nice to her, her friend, the sax player thought I hated her, which I didn't, I actually thought she was adorable and possibly one of the sweetest girls I had ever met. I really got along with these girls, they would come visit between periods and eat lunch with me and talked to me like I was one of them, came to me for advice, and taught me a whole lot about what being a middle school teacher was. When my student teaching was up, leaving those girls was the toughest part for me. luckily i started subbing the day after graduation so it wasn't long til I saw them again. But just in case I didn't go back, they had given me screen names and emails to keep in touch. We all began emailing and they sent me some of the sweetest notes I'd ever received about how big of an influence I had been for the short time I was their teacher and how much they wanted to be like me when they grew up. As time went by we decided to have a luncheon...which was meeting at applebees and grabbing lunch and talking about what was going on. Since then I talk to all of them about once a week on aim and I've been to three sweet 16's. their mothers have thanked me for providing them with such a good influence to follow and being able to listen to them about their lives when they don't want to talk to their moms and providing them with mature guidance responsibly.

They have also taught me a lot and been there to listen to me about a ton of stuff. Its funny how mature they seem sometimes, when I had issues with my ex boyfriend they told me to dump him, that it wasn't worth my aggravation. when they ask me how things are, i tell them honestly. they all know how my job has been filled with ups and downs the past couple of years and they've all been so supportive, offering help if needed and the such.

two of them have begun blogging, and have advertised their blogs over aim. its cute because they're writing it to keep a journal of their day to day activities and thoughts. and they get into so much detail. now i'm waiting for one of them to find me. haha. that should be interesting. although they know all the things i do, and often i tell them "do as i say and not as i do" or give them the "i'm older and of age to do certain things....keep that in mind". I don't say "i was out drinking" and i'd never drink in front of them...which came up at one of the sweet 16's when one girl said "wow, ms....you could drink, cause you're over 21!" (yea...they can't stop calling me miss or ms. which i find funny). and my response was "yes, i could...but i won't because that's not the example i want to set for you" then i was handed a wine glass on my way out as a favor!

my girls are some of my favorite people in the whole world, some of the kindest people i've ever met and friends that i know will be there for a long time. which makes me have hope in the youth of the world!

my pajama pants

they're from old navy. i bought one pair over the summer and fell in love (so i went back and bought 3 more). yes. i love my pajama pants. and you know what. at the moment they are the only thing that can make me smile. they've got a comfy waist band, and a funky print. i have the bright pink and white ones on. they're WIDE legged and when I say WIDE legged I mean, I could fit 2 of my thighs in here, and that's big because I am built like a short tree. they fall just below my feet which means i can feel my feet staying warm in their covering. and my toes peek out when i walk.

why am i talking about my pajama pants? because my job sucks. i don't like teaching anymore. period. and i hate that steve's gone. i just want him home. and it hurts, how much i miss him. i know i'm PMSing...and that's not helping but i just want a chance to sit back and go "wow. i'm happy" yes. i'm happy with my boyfriend for the first time...well ever. and i'm becomming a lil happier at home. but am i happy? no. i can't say i am anymore. i am honestly miserable because of my job. wah.

Buck opens on Monday

Steve's away hunting. I'm totally sappy and missing him and he only left yesterday. I said my goodbyes on Thursday and hopefully he'll be back on Sunday of next week if not sooner. For the week he'll be in Pennsylvania hunting Buck when the season opens on monday. today they set up the scaffolding. He called before and I can't even begin to tell you about my excitement as my phone lit up and played "Whatever you like". Distance makes the heart grow fonder...and I can't wait for him to be home. I seriously have never missed anyone this fast or this much.

My Christmas List

So for the past couple of week's I've been asked "what do you want for Christmas?" and in all honesty, I HATE that question, if you know me, you should be able to come up with something YOU want me to have. Is that asking too much? for people to put thought into a gift? My mom has been doing this for years and it really bothers me, especially when I specifically have been hinting for something for almost 12 months and she doesn't get it (2007 I wanted a Melodica and spent as much time as possible asking for one, and a month before Christmas was asked "What do you want?" and my response was "If you can't figure it out, nothing")

So in turn...since I know no one sees this that I know personally...just my blogging buddies....here is MY Christmas list, if I had to be selfish and ask for specific things, here's what I want...warning though...some items MAY be scandalous/racy!

1. The ability to not worry about the little things anymore.
2. Time to get EVERYTHING done on my to do lists.
3. Time to lay around and do absolutely nothing and not feel bad about it. With Steve.
4. UO spoon necklace

5. Brushfire Records new Christmas CD

6. Maria Mena's new album

7. Snow Patrol's new album. I'm a sucker for them.

8. thigh high/over the knee boots

9. trashy.com anything from it. specifically though the glam santa colection is beautiful!

10. Time with this guy, when I don't have to worry about saying goodbye, or going home, or hitting reality... I know its wishful thinking, but a girl can dream.

List of the things I get yelled at for...often.

Because this is partially to help keep me sane, my blog that is, without spending the cost of a therapist (which I can't afford) here is my new list which I will update as needed. The things I get yelled at for (not necessary screaming yelling but spoken to harshly or really just the things I don't do to my mom's satisfaction)

1. Napping

I love a solid afternoon nap. However my mom doesn't understand "what's wrong with me" and "why I'm always sleeping". Which makes me laugh because she naps after she eats for up to 6 hours, she is constantly caught napping on the couch. But if my dad or I take a nap we have to spend an hour justifying it.

2. Dishwasher.

I understand that it is my "chore" for the house, but the thing is if I get home, its not the first thing I'm going to do when I jump out of the car. I want to take a minute to clear my mind from driving and working all day and it sucks that the moment my mom gets home and asks "did you empty the dishwasher? NOOOO. too busy Laura, too much to do not enough time. god, you do NOTHING around here"

How I place things in the dishwasher. What family STILL uses a set of glasses that McDonald's produced in 1980 and sold with a big mac and fries for $2 as their drinking glasses? oh, right mine because my parents thought they were great. And granted they are adorable but seriously...I think its time we grew up and used REAL glasses or tumblers or whatever. apparently a glass or two has broken in the dishwasher and my mom doesn't like ANYTHING being placed within a clink-able distance of them because "we will NEVER find those glasses again and it took your father and I quite some time to collect multiples of all of the glasses!" no joke.

3. Whole milk

I know I'm on a constant battle to lose weight but sometimes I just want the extra calories because it fills in the flavor of my coffee better than the watered down skim milk. AND I am convinced there's not the same nutrients. I know there's the same, but whatever. I'll justify my extra cals.

4. Texting

ok. So maybe its not so much that I get yelled at for it, but I get questioned over who, what and even looked into the phone for while I'm texting to see what I'm saying. Which really bugs me and the second I say something to the effect of "its my phone, I pay for it, and this is none of your business" I'm made into the bad guy who doesn't let her into my life at all.

5. Talking to my dad

She thinks I'm always talking about her and granted, often it is true, but it means I have to pretend he doesn't exist and has really driven a wedge between me and my dad to the effect that I can't talk to him period.

my crackberry

I am obsessed with my phone. there is no doubt about it. ever since i bought the thing its become the absolute death of my normal interaction. I'm not saying I hate the phone, I in fact love it. However between the camera and my constant uploading to facebook, the facebook app, googlemaps GPS, and now twitter I think I'm starting to get WAY too into my phone. I have been a big texter since college and I knew I had a problem with that early on, but now my phone is with me and on 24/7. I almost miss the days where I felt "ok" without it with me. When did I come to the point that I was "ok" with having my email delivered to my phone? where I was more concerned with my twitter status than what my boyfriend was up to? When texting took over phone calls? its pretty crazy. the whole thing and I'm thinking tonight when I get home I'm disconnecting myself for a while. The internet has killed so much of my productivity and now my phone is too.

All Things Bright and Beautiful

That's what I hear some 6th graders singing at the moment, and not well at that. My principal is being looked for and its funny to listen to the front secretary's voice bounce from room to room asking for him by name but having someone else respond "not here". Working in a church school has its moments when I sit here and go "wow, this is a nice place after all" most of these have to do with the very young kids. The ECC will be coming up to attend a mini chapel service in moments, they will all sit there and fidget in their seats and not really listen, but still be getting the message. I feel like when I was that young I still understood all of the messages too. My religion taught me to question what it taught me, or at least that was what I took away from my ten years of Sunday school, year of communion and two years of confirmation classes as well as all of the time I spent with my youth group. I think that this questioning has made for an interesting take on my job as a school teacher within the same religious sect, but not the specific branch. I question everything that goes on here, the why of it, the who and the how. Not always the best thing when the church is signing your paycheck and still knocking on your door demanding more out of you when you're already drained at the end of every day. I've been told that me staying in this job is "the Christian thing to do" but financially, I can't act with the "Christian" mindset that this is my final career placement. Most days I also question whether I want to actual be a teacher or not, which is frustrating and curious at the same time. I loved teaching in public school during college, even subbing was incredible, the students are so much different than private school students and they hold themselves accountable on top of the accountability held by the teachers. Here its the opposite. "how little work can i do without failing?" Which makes my job as a music teacher so difficult. I understand that all things are bright and beautiful, and I can sit and compare apples to oranges all day, but this idea of "good Christian ways"...is that bright and beautiful? Looking for a new job is not gonna be easy, but its gotta be done again. I'm still considering leaving teaching for music business administration, its a matter of credentials however. Alright, my day needs to move forward. LC

questioning

and now i'm questioning if any of my friends have seen my blog and read it regularly...sigh over active brain. i think its time for sleep.

VWLaura 101

ok....so I've made a few changes. everyone likes change, right?

New title: Floating Fast. Taken from my favorite Wilco song (actually my favorite song ever) "Hummingbird"

as this is my 101st post I have decided to treat it like and introduction class...life has been pretty intense as I mentioned in post 100. I thought I'd take a few minutes to update on the minor things in my life and the stuff that I've recently found myself more and more interested in...so here it goes!

MUSIC

Josh Ritter
Kinda folksy one might say, impressive though, I've been listening to both of his major releases (gotta love how you can log onto iTunes and spend hours linking musicians from one to another!) Reminds me a bit of Bob Dylan, which is odd because I'm not a big fan of Bob Dylan (in any of his phases)

Ray Montagne
Alright, so about two months ago, maybe one, John Mayer blogged about this guy, who I have been listening to sporadically for two years now. (90.7 FUV is always good to hear something new!) He's such a mellow sounding guy, but the scratchy quality of his voice adds that sexy gruff to his music. I do however feel like he moves his arms way too much when strumming the guitar, it makes me laugh.

Lady Gaga "Just Dance"
Can't get the song out of my head. Last weekend when we went away the first thing I was asked by our friend Travis was "You know that song just dance, she says "doo doo" doesn't she?!" then I was whacked with a throw pillow which led to a joust and pillow fight.

Beyonce "Single Ladies"
Another one that I can't get out of my head, and if you missed SNL this past week...fantastic parody. I must say I am impressed by Beyonce's ability to keep her love life so publicly private as a star, as well she is constantly in great shape while still being shapely. I'd like to have whatever she's having....or find out exactly what her workout routine is.

G Love
I think I've talked about G Love before, he's on Brushfire Records (Jack Johnson) and originally from Philly, he's one of those musicians who fall into multiple categories but can be liked by everyone alike.

John Legend and Andre 3000 "Green Light"
Two amazing musicians, I'm always excited when one of them has something new out, and combining efforts, this song is going to definitely be a playlist keeper for the new year.

Lil Wayne
You name it, I like it! I cannot get enough of this guy and I have no idea why. He is completely different from my typical music favoring but I find him so entertaining. As well, last weekend when we were at the club, Kevin Rudolf was performing live, which was awesome because we went in, had no idea he was performing and it was an added bonus! WHOO HOO! My apologies for anyone who finds lil wayne to be too sexual, but listen to it for the ridiculousness, and hey....its better than Lil Jon screaming "YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" behind everything on the radio!

TV

The Office

As always, this is one of my favorites. The Pam and Jim story line this season is driving me crazy though. The Andy/Angela wedding is hysterical (have you checked out their website? )

30 Rock

"Can you please say "WELCOME LIIIIIZZZZZZ LEEEEEEEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!"" Tina Fey is a genius...though not part of 30 Rock I wanted to vote for her as Sarah Palin rather than any of the running candidates in the past election. This show gets funnier and funnier every episode, and I love how they use old NBC stars to promote ratings. Alec Baldwin, funny. Never liked him until I started watching this show!

Family Guy

A classic, always a solid fall back, I stopped watching the new episodes for a while. is an AMAZING website that allows internet tv watching. so I'm able to catch up there. Season 7 is amazing.

Disney Channel...I'm a junkie.

I used to watch the food network like they were going to cancel my cable subscription any day, not anymore. My attention has been turned to the Disney Channel. Wholesome family entertainment is fantastic. my favs...Hannah Montana , Suite Life of Zack and Cody , Wizards of Waverly Place and Life with Derek.

FOOD/BEVVIES

Wine

I have become such a big wine drinker. My favorite has been merlot for a long time, but after the Ren Faire with my friends and Steve and my tour at Bedell, I have started expanding my palate with other colors and tastes. Wine is fun. I've definitely learned that!

Starbucks Ice pops

98% fat free and realllllly tastey!

cheese and dried meats

classy, goes with wine...and sooo tastey and delicious. My favorite find, Wawa Pepperoni and cheese and cracker cups to go. Too bad there's no Wawa close by.

Chipotle...the most amazing food ever. hands down. love it.

CLOTHING/SHOPPING

New York and Company

stylish, affordable and classic for work. Plus they carry Petites! YAY SHORTIES!

Target....no joke, I find some awesome stuff here.

I know...I know...Carrie Bradshaw said "Classy, not trashy" but I was surprised to find some really classy stuff here as well as some of the most comfy panties EVER! As well, theirs is the first lace I find washes well and doesn't pull in the laundry.

MOVIES

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

I am a sucker for Michael Cera. He's funny and awkward. The whole story was cute and right up my alley, Steve's convinced minus being Jewish and having a famous dad, my teenage years were much like Norah's...bridge and tunnel. Which they were kinda...though most of my time I spent on the Island and not in the city, I did spend a lot of time in the city.

Other than that one, I haven't been to the movies in a while...but I am looking REALLY forward to Twilight. I've started reading the books (halfway through New Moon) and I'm addicted. The movie is going to be amazing! hopefully....

100!!!

Well, this is my 100th post and its about damn time as far as I'm concerned! There will be a lot in here....so good luck and god speed to those who take the time to read it (also thank you!)

Let's work our way backwards a bit, shall we? excellent. first, i must go get a new light bulb for my desk lamp, came home after work to find it blown out. booo. well ok. i can see again! YAY! i just thought of the pink light bulbs I used to buy for an extra 75 cents...they weren't really pink, more of a light shade of pink, but they made me feel really girlie in my old room at my old house which was the farthest thing from girlie and when I was 12 living in there the only thing I wanted.
Moving on...today was awful. It was a day filled with students who had not practiced and me updating my websites for 40 minutes straight, something I'd been meaning to do but kept putting off again and again. I became completely aggravated by the end of the day and heard one of the best excuses in months...."I live too far and have to travel too much so I can't practice" well thank you dear for wasting my time, your time, your classroom teacher's time and the other kids' time. When I woke up this morning, I wanted to call out so badly, but couldn't bring myself to actually do it. And when I was walking into the building from my car this morning I thought to myself "I can make this a good day" so much for that.

Last week and the week before were not so good. possibly two of the worse weeks of my life. Before I get to why I have to go back about a month ago when I went to my regular doctor's for a minor infection, one I've had before and a couple of days worth of antibiotics usually clears up quick and easy. The re-test after the meds (which made me really sick) ended up showing a high white blood cell count and I was told to see my gynecologist. I know its probably the worst thing as a woman age 24, but I had never been to one before, and I was completely frightened, high white blood cell count, gyno visit, first thought with all of this is crap....what's wrong with me. So I made an appointment with the first doctor I found on my health care's
website and got myself there within 48 hours. She said everything looked fine and not to worry, I'd hear back in 2 weeks with a postcard saying everything is great unless she needed me to come back. The actual appointment and interaction wasn't as terrible as I'd thought, the doctor walked me through everything and explained what she was doing the whole time. Really made me comfortable for such an uncomfortable experience. I then went about the next week like everything was normal, went away for Steve's birthday (my present to him was a coupon book I scrapped and a night out east on LI with a wine tour...it was SO nice but he got sick while we were there so the romance was really ripped from it and I bitched him out about being sick thinking he was simply hung over from his guys night out the night before but he was truly sick) and then the following week I ended up sick with the same stomach bug Steve had. It was absolutely awful, I spent the week barely eating (yet didn't lose weight) constantly drinking gatorade and wishing my insides would come out already. I was doubled over in pain most nights and didn't know if I should go to the hospital or if it would just past, well it past and then I was expecting my monthly visit from my favorite aunt (i always liked that comparison!). Between being sick and my "visitor" I got a phone call from my gyno, I needed to come back in because they found abnormal ascuscells which they needed to perform a poloscopy to see if they were pre-cancerous or flat out cancerous. So I spent the week panicking and researching the procedure and cervical cancer...I was completely frightened. I couldn't get an appointment for a week and I needed to wait for my period to be over or almost over. The appointment was this past Thursday and the external tests came back as negative for cancer, the lab tests were JUST reported to me as normal as well! I'm really lucky, but i am still a statistic because I at some point had HPV, which is so common...and I urge EVERYONE to go get tested for!!! My body has almost completely flushed the HPV, but there are still some remainders and that was what was found. Its a big relief. I was completely scared. And of course of the fact that god forbid there was something wrong, and later further complication and the possibility of not being able to have kids...which was ridiculous because thousands of women have this taken care of and later have many kids. I just worry.

My job has been awful this year. Besides kids who don't practice, I also have had to fight to keep my job, salary and not be given extra work on my already overloaded plate. Working for a church-school has so many cons to it, and I'm praying that I can get out for next fall. I've lost my faith in the church but in all honesty my faith in God is getting stronger. which is good. That's all i really have to say about the job itself.

My Volleyball Team

I coached volleyball again, which was great and I'll be coaching Basketball with my principal when the season starts up. This week really. I'm actually looking forward to it, should be interesting. I know nothing more than shoot the ball and you have to dribble constantly. I knew nothing when I started coaching volleyball though and now I love it!

Me and Steve at Carmine's in AC

Steve has been an amazing addition to my life. He's such a genuinely nice guy. I really haven fallen so hard in love with him and I don't want anything else in the world. If tomorrow I was given the option of spending the rest of my life rich, traveling and famous or poor and with him, I'd pick poor and with him. He's the most amazing guy I could ever imagine. I'd always said that I'd know who the one was when we were with a large group of people and in our own separate conversations he looked over, walked to me, kissed me on my forehead, and walked away. He did this within our first two months of dating, and I'll never forget becoming completely speechless. He did it again about two weeks after that and I'll never forget the speechless feeling again. We went to AC last weekend and had an amazing time with 7 of his friends, 3 other couples and one of the single guys. It was a complete blast and I really enjoy his friends. granted I've known all of them for years...but now its so much different.

At the club in the Borgata with Robyn and Alyse

The whole group at dinner in AC

As my friends are concerned, I miss my college friends, because I know they're real friends. And I'm finding all the friends that I made while with Stephen (ex) are mixed. April has become my rock and I'm hers, we rally clicked so well with one another after we broke up with Stephen and Anthony, and became so close. I consider her to be like my sister. Net is the same way, and luckily is one of the few people who understands the rest of my life as crazy as it is. Kerin turned out to be a bit of a liar, and I've in turned began the process of distancing myself. (sam if you've found me on her...shhhhh!!!) BUT over the summer Diana had said, "be careful, because there are backstabbers and jerks in this group who will love you to your face and do nothing but talk shit as soon as you leave the room" and with that I'm just over it. The other problem with that group is the incest, obviously not familial but they all have begun hooking up with one another and liking each other and when you come down to it, who really is "best friends" with their exes? It is possible, but not often successful. I'm friends with one of my exes, but that's really because he wants to keep the possibility of future open...which I've already put the nix on. its all silly and I can't be bothered with the drama...I don't have the time or energy anymore.

Me and April at Fall Firepit 2008

alright well I have kickboxing in about 20 minutes and I need to go this week, its been 2 (since I was sick and totally overwhelmed last week). That's it for now. But there will be more later...101 should be coming tonight.

LC

it has been over three months

thank you to kayla, a new visitor, for her comment which was sent to my phone and made me realize HOW long it has been since I blogged. Which makes me feel awful for not being back on. Life has become so crazy on a daily basis and days blend into one another so quickly. I will file a full report later this evening when I get home, filled with pictures and videos and lots of exciting and some not so exciting but then exciting again information about what has been going on in my life. I hope that everyone is doing well, Abby and Trace I think about the both of you constantly and remind myself "I need to go on and see how they are" but then i sign onto class and I'm stuck in the BU system for 8 hours a night. There will be a new survey of mine coming soon. promise. I'm back. I miss blogging, really...and I think with everything that has been going on in the past few weeks I really do need it.

talk to you soon.

its been a while...

seriously. what's funny is that i figured with blogger i'd have instant access to writing my thoughts on life...and instead i know its here, tell myself daily that i need to blog, and then never get around to it.

the past few days have been filled with olympics and nothing. i seriously feel like a total waste. its awful. basically ever since last friday when i found out i didn't get the job at JALC. i know there's tons for me to do...particularly a final for my class at BU...and of course prep work for my job, which I will be going back to in the fall...but i have NO energy to do any of it. i'd much rather lay around watching michael phelps win another freaking gold medal (the man is a freak of nature), and wish my boyfriend would come over and cuddle.

boyfriend...right. so pre-school boyfriend and i are officially together. 2 months an a few days...its been amazing...and i love spending time with him. we almost had our first fight saturday night, but avoided it which was good, because i really didn't want to go to bed arguing. i sleep at his house (yes, i've seen his bedroom---which makes pat laugh because for the almost year and a half that stephen and i were together i never once saw his bedroom---kinda weird) every saturday which i love because we literally stay in each others arms the whole night and wake up late and lay around on sundays. its really perfect, and im totally happy and blown away with him!

friend front...its hard with kerin. i'll explain later hopefully because there is alot i need to get off my chest. april is good. finally got a job and has reached a happy place. everyone is going upstate again, but i'm opting out for obvious reasons. i wish i could join them, but i know its not appropriate despite john's insistance that it would be totally fine.

i need to figure out what im doing for the next hour and then grab a train to the city to turn around in manhattan and come one stop west to brooklyn....why can't i just drive to the city i'll never understand...one of my quirks, why drive when i can take a train?!

a few questions for myself...maybe you can answer them for me

-why do i wear my heart on my sleeve?
-why can't i save myself from falling so quickly?
-how is it possible to know someone for so long and never recognize how well they fit into your mold of what you want in someone else?
-how do you restrain from telling someone who is so wonderful how much you care about them so quickly? why is it so hard for me to swallow the lump in my throat that makes me want to say those three blasted words that have always ended up making me feel pain?
-how do i deal with the questions from my mom that are the same over and over again without snapping or getting nasty?
-why is it that when you are with said person who you just want to hold all the time the time you are with them flies by and when it comes time to say goodbye the time just keeps pushing itself later and later and makes it harder to get up?
-why is said person so understanding of your hopes and wishes and yet it scares the hell out of you?
-why does caring have to come so hard to me?
-why can't i get the feeling of being burnt out of my head? and why can't i think that trust is ok to do when someone is so obviously trust worthy? why can't i take the brick wall down that i keep up?
-why is the feeling of laying alone so bad?
-why is the feeling of laying with someone who tells you you're beautiful so satisfying?
-why can't i lay with said person right now?

things were so good this weekend. le sigh.

bleeding love

why do i feel like i should hate this song when I sing it constantly, find myself screaming the words at the top of my lungs when i'm driving and being completely mesmerized by it when i'm doing ordinary tasks and it plays off of my itunes?

if you could...

please keep my friend Tim, whom I have never met in your prayers. I know many of my "blog buddies" are regular pray-ers, and the more good thoughts his way, the better. Tim told me last night that he has skin cancer...apparently this is not the first time, and they will be performing surgery last in the week to try to remove it. Tim is a fellow student through the BU program and him and I became friends two classes ago, providing support and laughter to one another. He is originally from the US, but works for DODDS (dept of defense schools) and I have blogged about him before. He has two children and is married, and him and his wife and daughter reside in Okinawa, Japan. We joke about visiting each other but right now I wish nothing more than to be able to go there and give him a hug, he's a great gentleman who is so devoted to his craft and the joy of music. So please, if you would include him in your next round of prayers, I know I will be this week every time I do, which seems to be increasing regularly.

thanks.

an amazing weekend, a smile on my face and one hell of an interview!

yes ladies and gents...all of that IS in fact my life for the past 72 hours or so!

Friday I went to Chris' for a lil bit and we christened the firepit, gotta love firepits on a nice summery night. I'm looking really forward to when him and Net have a house and we can all just hang out there regularly.

After I swung by Burkes for what was supposed to be ONE drink with steve, and ended up being a typical night at Burkes, at least I got home early compared to my usual Friday night hour of 3:30, Friday I was in bed around 1:45! as I mentioned, He asked me to go to the baby's christening, which I was very excited about as that is a big deal as far as i'm concerned...got to meet the fam!

The Saturday was Courtney's wedding. Went and played...perfect! The timing was absolutely perfect! I was so happy that that worked out, because I was worried about the timing thing. After playing, I came home and attempted getting some school work done....totally didn't work out for me, but that's ok. Got ready for the reception and I wore this peach dress I bought at Forever 21 on a whim with Jeannie one day because it fit and I liked the color...yes...I buy myself dresses for formal occasions that I don't have! And I wonder why I'm always broke! So Kerin was my date, and we had my mom drop us off at the party, after my mom spent a good hour rushing us along getting ready and wouldn't leave us alone and poor kerin, trying to put her makeup on as my mom went through her makeup case asking what everything was...ugh. June 2009 cannot come here soon enough! 1 year. I keep reminding myself...1 year! anyway...the wedding was SO much fun, we had quite a bit to drink, which was fine because we arranged for Steve to come pick us up. (knight in shining armor much?) so here are some of my favorite pics of the night:

yea....and those are just the most fun ones off MY camera! we all had a good time. we were at a table with all the guys i was friends with in high school through my ex boyfriend and band, it was a blast. And Kerin is an amazing "and guest". Courtney looked great and surprisingly I was really glad to see her, I still can't believe she's married, but at the same time, its not that surprising.

Anyway...Steve picked us up and the three of us came back to my house to hang out in the backyard, apparently though me and Steve being kinda cuddly made Kerin a lil uncomfy and she opted to go home after an hour or so. I have to remember that she may be happy and excited, but she is still a lil jealous that I'm actually seeing Steve and she's not formal with tommy. Then Steve and I had the conversation of how he should introduce me the next day at the christening...and i told him, it's easiest to say I'm his girlfriend and he said as long as I'm ok with that.

The next day we went to the christening...first off the baby is ADORABLE and I kept apologizing for having not come by to see her before. And I was introduced as Steve's girlfriend, which made me smile alot, and I got to meet his family from PA which was nice. At one point one of his uncles invited me to come visit...so they're pretty friendly...but I've always found PA'ers to be really kind and generous. We sat through the mass together and he held my hand and we cracked jokes to each other to keep from getting bored. Went back to his house and just hung out with the fam. it was nice, and Cilla seems to be happy that I'm seeing him. Tony started making a deal over how he kissed in the kitchen at one point, which just made us all laugh. I'm really excited over this whole thing. It seems so right...and we both said something the other day about how it only took us 20 years to figure out that we fit together pretty well.

So around 5, I left as the sky had opened up and begin raining and came home to finish up my final. My theory class is done!!! thank god! i was so excited to be done. Yesterday I had an interview with JALC...yup...they phone screened me and liked me enough to interview me...so I was really nervous/excited about that. The interview went well and they want me to come in for a second interview. They were also very surprised by how much admin experience I have despite strictly being a teacher. I would love to work for them, so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed and my hope egg rubbed constantly!

Today is going to be my baking and running around and reading day. I'm having dinner at Marion's, so that should be nice. we need to go over the details of me staying there, which I'm SO excited about...that starts Friday. In the meantime I should get going. I'll blog again soon. I've been spending the past 12 hours sleeping and reading non-stop, its been SO nice! But now its time for me to shower and get ready. Hope everyone is well, and that the sun is shining over all of you the way it seems to be me.
