Billy is a main recurring character on the 2024 computer-animated TV series Barney's World. He's an energetic dinosaur who likes action, loud sounds and good challenge[2]. With a strong sense of self awareness, Billy encourages young children to express their feelings and care for themselves.[3] Since Billy is so full of energy it makes it hard for him to sit down sometimes, and he is usually at his happiest when he is splashing in puddles, jumping around, or climbing on something. Sometimes he needs to slow down in order for his friends to keep up with him. Billy messes up sometimes, but is great at learning from his mistakes. He is also great at checking in with his body, especially if it means he can keep having fun.
Billy is based on the character BJ from the original Barney & Friends — unlike Barney and Baby Bop, his name was changed for the reboot series.

- According to the My First Puzzle Book Billy is Baby Bop's older brother just like in the original series where BJ is Baby Bop's older brother.

Design[]
Billy's iteration for Barney's World is an adaptation of BJ from Barney & Friends. The design of Billy was made using DALL-E 3, an AI system developed by OpenAI that creates custom images and art based on text prompts. Mattel, owners of the Barney IP, had already been using AI to assist with their other Mattel brands and IPs.[4][5] Several artists at the Canada-based Nelvana would also assist with the character design and models for Barney in Barney's World, including Steve Remen, a storyboard artist for Nelvana, (who also helped to develop designs for Barney and Baby Bop).[6]
Billy is a yellow-skinned dinosaur (of child years in age) with a rounded three-point head crest. He has orange spots, a reddish-orange hair tuft, a green tummy marking, and green toes. Billy has a light-colored horn, and amber eyes. Unlike his classic counterpart, and similar to the other dinos in Barney's World, Billy has four fingers on each hand (along with having fingernails), a lined stomach, chipped teeth, and a tongue. His debut render (first seen in "Meet Billy") was used for the first seven episodes and only one short of Barney's World when Saturday Animation provided the animation. Then later in 2024 a brand new version of the render made his first debut when Kickstart Entertainment was brought in to replace Saturday Animation for animating the series starting in "Team Mateys" which came with a few changes - including different looking feet, a brighter shade of yellow, and different looking eyes that have bigger eye color and pupils.

Trivia[]
- Billy is so far the only dinosaur within Barney's World who has never been shown to have a "dino glow" of his own.
- Billy's pretend costumes almost always consist of a hooded jacket in contrast to Baby Bop's usual tutu with shorts.
