Nozzle

Tobera

A nozzle is a device that converts the thermal and pressure energy of a fluid into kinetic energy. As such, it is used in turbomachinery and other machines, such as injectors, pumps, jet propulsion, etc. The fluid undergoes an increase in velocity as the nozzle section decreases, so it also undergoes a decrease in pressure and temperature as the energy is conserved. There are designs and types of nozzle widely used in different fields of engineering, such as Laval, Rateau, Curtis, etc.
