Zootrope, of the Greek étimos ζωός, an adjective that means "alive" and τροπή, a noun that designated so much the revolution of the sun or the point in which it returns, and the "solstice". Named in English zoetrope or daedalum, stroboscopic machine created in 1834 by William George Horner, composed by a circular drum with cuts, through which the spectator looks so that the drawings arranged in strips on the drum, when turning, give the Illusion of movement. It was a very popular toy at the time and one of the advances towards the appearance of the cinema that were created in the first half of century XIX. They were famous, it was an inspiration for the creation of what we know today as cinema because it is the same principle, a succession of images that tell a story. Zoótropo, de los étimos griegos ζωός, un adjetivo que significa "vivo" y τροπή, un sustantivo que designaba tanto la revolución del sol o el punto en el que se vuelve, y el "solsticio". Denominado en inglés zoetrope o daedalum, máquina estroboscópica creada en 1834 por William George Horner, compuesta por un tambor circular con unos cortes, a través de los cuales mira el espectador para que los dibujos dispuestos en tiras sobre el tambor, al girar, den la ilusión de movimiento. Fue un juguete muy popular en la época y uno de los avances hacia la aparición del cine que se crearon en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Fueron famosos, fue una inspiración para la creación de lo que hoy conocemos como cine ya que es el mismo principio, una sucesión de imágenes que cuentan una historia.
