Bisquine

The bisquines are Norman / Breton boats rigged in "bisquine". The name would come from "Biscaya" Spanish maritime province which built strong fishing boats. Their rigging is of a very simplified handling, without significant loss of quality of the previous luggers. It is an evolution of an integral "third-party" rigging, on two or three masts, with three stages of sails, the third being used only in case of weak wind for work or when it was necessary to return very quickly to be able to sell the crop at the best price. An exaggerated end-piece also allows the setting of a very large jib on the front to stabilize the walk. It is characteristic of the region of Mont Saint-Michel located between Saint-Malo and Granville in France in the nineteenth century. La Cancalaise at the maritime festivals of Brest 2008 Initially, available hulls were rigged in lugger. Subsequently, a specific shell was designed for its use. It is a keelboat with a very pronounced drift plan about 20 meters long.
