Butua

Butua, or Butwa, is the designation of an ancient kingdom that occupied the area of ​​present-day southwest of Zimbabwe. It was a gold producing area that was marketed by Arab merchants and, later, Portuguese merchants. It was exploited by the Portuguese from 1512 and effectively occupied for some years from 1644. The kingdom was ruled by the Togwa dynasty until 1683 when it was conquered by the Rozwi kingdom. Butua, ou Butwa, é a designação de um antigo reino que ocupava a zona do actual sudoeste do Zimbabué. Era uma zona produtora de ouro que era comercializado por mercadores árabes e, mais tarde, portugueses. Foi explorado pelos portugueses a partir de 1512 e ocupado efectivamente durante alguns anos a partir de 1644. O reino foi governado pela dinastia Togwa até 1683 quando foi conquistado pelo reino Rozwi.
