Iberismo

Iberismo is a political and cultural movement that defends the alliance of relations at all levels between Portugal and Spain and, finally, the political fusion of the same states. These ideals were promoted mainly by republican, socialist, liberal and Masonic movements in both countries, especially during the nineteenth century, when they had the greatest dilemma of nationalist ideals of inclusion, such as the Italian Risorgimento or the German Unification. Iberismo is a project of construction of an Iberian State that intends to have a single political entity, that is, to create a single country that incorporates the current states of Portugal and Spain. Such a union would mean that both already unified countries would become the 44th largest country in the world, in the 5th largest country in the European Union, and the 24th most populous, as well as, in their view, hypothetically could to make GDP and HDI grow, leaving the country among the ten best countries in the world in both characteristics. The country's time zone would vary between UTC -1 and UTC +1, increasing another hour in the summer period in the Northern Hemisphere.
