Fic Recs

Any fic I read on the AO3 that I love enough to bookmark I download, partially because I'm a paranoid individual who has seen beloved fics vanish into the ether, and partially because its a way of keeping track of what I want to rec. I'm a long way behind on this, so today I'm going to list the six stories in my 'fic to blog' folder that have been there since December 2017. Only one of them was 'anonymous' so either I didn't do much Yuletide reading in the summer of 2017/2018, or I did the majority in January. Either is plausible <3.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by nirejseki. General audiences, The Flash/associated fandoms, Mick Rory/Leonard Snart, 6847 words. Superheroes, supervillains, and unicorns. Many unicorns, and their favourite supervillain. Also a range of plot that probably makes sense to people who have seen the show, but works as a series of vignettes for people like me who barely know the characters' names.

Deep Down, Where Your Fight Is Waiting. Teen and up, Teen Wolf (TV), Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski, Allison Argent/Lydia Martin, 14 429 words. Canon AU involving resurrection of a canonically dead character. Focus is on friendship, not the romantic ships -- road trip for Stiles and Alison. Depressive/PTSD type symptoms at the beginning of the story; these result in an act of violence.

birds of a by des-zimbits (staranise). General audiences, Kent Parson, Check Please!, 282 words. Short tear jerker set in Kent's first year as a professional, about someone who is not okay at the beginning, but a bit better than that at the end.

All Foucault, No Knickers by chaosmanor. Mature, Dogma (movie), Bartleby & Loki (Dogma), 2482. The poetry of wine tasting. Or possibly a parody of wine tasting, with lashings of Christianity and the type of philosophy that sails straight past me, but probably will make others laugh.

Below here are MCU. At this point in my reading, I was still angry about the MCU 'Civil War' movie, and it should be assumed that any MCU fics will be strongly team Iron Man.

The Best People in Life are Free by dls. General Audiences, MCU, 1780 words. I think this part of the author's summary says it all: "It was time for Tony Stark to stop paying for the Avengers’ problems".

No Second Chances by Wix. General Audiences, MCU, Stephen Strange/Tony Stark, past Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, 5211 words. Team Captain America return to the compound, Stark is required to help them, things go poorly. Not a cheerful fic, but decidedly cathartic.
