It may well be that yesterday's exhaustion was some variation on virus making itself felt - today, my lungs are scratchy, my throat aches, my sinuses are sore, and I'm generally not impressed with things. I made the choice to not go to tap as I don't think that that level of exercise will do me any good, and I also chose not to go to the social event that might have been an alternative.

Thanks to [personal profile] splanky , we have met the lovely Z, who is now spending two afternoons a week with our kids, running them around. This meant that I could stay at work until 5pm, then head down the freeway to Jandakot to collect middlest. Not a bad choice, although it was a good thing that there were left overs in the fridge, because we weren't home particularly quickly after that. It is starting to be that once dinner is eaten, I do a bit of cooking, and then there is food for the next day. Tonight this is using up the last of the sausages bought for eldest's birthday gathering (there was a 2 for not much more than the price of 1 deal on, and so I got three in case I needed that many, and one more because it was cheap)

On the topic of meat - I think I've eaten my year's allocation in the last week, and I really really don't have any desire to eat any more for a long time. Chicken because [personal profile] artisanat  was away/going away and I didn't have the extra oomph to do anything about food; fish at the birthday dinner (and the week before when I gave in to the demands of my body that it needed fish *now*), and now beef sausages*. I skipped the meat portion of the last meal that had it, but tomorrow will be sausage casserole. I will quite probably eat the vegies, and supplement with nuts so that I don't have to cope with the uncomfortable stomach.

* Woolworths brand - pretty much all gluten free. However, they no longer have the details in big letters, you have to go and check the small print. In the nutrients section, gluten is listed under 'protein', and has 'nil detected' listed. Looking at the list of ingredients, I don't see anything that is sourced from gluten-containing cereals, and I can't find the reference that I previously found that tells me about a breakdown product of gluten might be triggering the auto-immune response in coeliac's. What I did find was a reference that talked about lactose intolerance being a symptom of coeliac disease, which makes me wonder about my greater ability to tolerate dairy recently (I was bad. There were two commercial icecream-on-sticks in the freezer, which is one too few to feed to kids. So, I ate them. With no serious intestinal symptoms in the short term, although the day after the second one my gut started to ache - at which point I read the ingredients and discovered wheat flour...I have no idea how to interpret that, nor even to work out what I would want to sort out from that)
