garden mumbles
Oct. 24th, 2007 07:56 amI have a garden bed with subsurface reticulation and almost nothing in it. I've been planning on putting strawberries along the front, but haven't managed to get it together to go to a nursery, or any equivalent.
Then, at the school on Monday, I looked at the area where there used to be a lovely, lush bed of strawberries (it has been cleared for a permaculture garden. go figure) and noticed one lonely plant trying to grow up out of the sand. Deciding that I don't care how eccentric I am seen as being, I hopped over the fence, and collected it. At which point I saw another one, which I then snaffled. Once I had about 8, I figured I should stop (especially as the siren had gone).
Instead of my usual approach, which would be to bring them home, put them on the counter in my 'this is urgent' pile, and leave them to die, I managed to plant them!!! I'm so pleased with myself. Mind you, I forgot to water them this morning (while watering everything else), but it is a step in the right direction.
Now, to go water them before dashing off...
