Welcome to Global Muse Icon Contest , the perfect place for showing off your fandom and icon-making abilities!
The structure is simple: each week lyrics, caps, quotes or poems will be posted by me, vrendo, or by campbell_soup. You must then choose a category from the list (see below) and make an icon that meets the requirements. There are just a couple of guidelines you must keep in mind when posting:

When lyrics are posted: a minimum of 4 words are required in the icon. You may use more, though.

When pictures (caps) are posted: you *must* use that picture and not other one (obviously). You may resize and change picture’s brightness.

When a poem is posted: Same rules as lyrics apply.

When a quote is posted: You must use a minimum of 4 words; if you switch them around, they must have a similar idea to the original quote.

If you have any other question about the previous statements please contact the managers!

After choosing the category and making your icon, you should post it *once* in the community. Double posts will delete your entry.

Before submitting:

Please make sure your icon is within the 100 x 100 size limit. We would prefer that your icon is under 40kb, but will consider allowing larger files if requested.

You have from Monday to Friday night to do your icon, giving you certain freedom. On weekends the votation will start, via poll or comment voting. You will have to vote for each category (the manager will put the nominees by category).The voters will choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place from the icons excluding themselves. On Sunday night, the results will be gathered and that will be the PUBLIC choice.

There will also be a best overall winner, scored and chosen by the managers. We decided to do it this way because popularity vote often rules the results of icontests...we wanted to provide criteria on what makes a good icon and give out an unbiased award to someone who truly deserves it.

Icon Criteria (what determines the best icons)

Creative Cropping: We look for creative, original ideas when it comes to cropping...like making us notice something in the picture we never really paid attention to before, or just something that doesn't put the subject dead center.

Good Coloring:Whether it is vividly colored, monochrome, or black and white, we look for dramatic and eye-catching colors colors in your icon...watch out for blurring and fading.

Eye Catching Type:Whether words are assigned or not, we will look for clear, easy-to-read type (make sure it is readable on your background color) that is pleasing to the eye. If you are making up your own words for the icon, something witty (and original) always earns extra points.

Animation: You don't necessarily get extra points for animation an icon. The quality of the animation and the quality of the base always plays a big part in the judging of your icon. Just slapping an animation on a base doesn't make it art...sorry.

Cool effects: Effects are key in the making of an icon...whether it's a simple glow, brushes, or something more complicated, the can either make it pop out or make it hide in a corner. We'll look for originality, so using a set of popular, commonly used brushes isn't advisable.

After seeing the requirement (lyric, song name, riddle, cap) you must enter a category. Please choose from the following list and include the name in yor entry post.

The Pensieve: Icons that have to do with a certain period of time. Whether it be from a historical movie (such as Pride and Prejudice) or a Monet painting, icons with subjects only in our memories go here.

Boovie: Has this book succeeded so much that even a movie adaption has come to the world? Have you seen the movie and read the book to feel inspired and make an icon? Then this is your category! Go ahead ^_^.

Made for TV: Is your icon from your favorite TV show/mini-series/commerical? This is the category for you!

Moondust: Sci-fi and Fantasy. Hyperspace, aliens, technology and planets? Knights, sorcerers, royalty, and unicorns? If your icon has anything to do with sci-fi or fantasy, it will fit here!

The Scale: Do you love music? Do you need to put your favorite band or instrument in here? You may…

Outside the Box: Any strange fact or pic? Any cool visual effect? Some optical illusions? This is the place!

From Scratch: Did you find some amazing art you just had to make into an icon? Did you find some great photography? Does it just plain not fit in any of the other categories? Then this is your place!

Hollywood: Does your icon feature a celebrity? It belongs here.
