Hello kaye! I’m just asking here that what is your favorite places in UK or London area you visit and why? & How was your experience while you are studying there? - Judy

Asked by judyconda

Hi!

Where do I even start? Oh god, there are a few places. I visited Edinburgh which was absolutely gorgeous. And London is really fun too. You never really run out of things to do there… I haven’t checked out a lot of places tbh, because I’ve been so busy with my studies.

But I think my favorite part about living in the UK is the number of bookstores I get to visit. There’s always a wonderful bookshop to check out in every city. There’s a really pretty Waterstones where I live (it used to be a church building) and I love going there just to browse.

My studies are going well! If you’re tuned in to my stories on IG, you might have seen that my new book is coming along. I’m really learning a lot about how to look at my work from a “stranger’s perspective” and how to critique my own work in order to revise it better.

One of my popular fanfictions is hitting the shelves this month! Yeah, remember that V fanfic everyone seems to be looking for because I unpublished it? DARK & WILD series ring any bells? 😅 Well, you can get it in print book form, and in e-book soon too! 😍 I present to you the first book in The Heavenly Sins series!

In #CRAVE, Kaye Allen carves a sensual yet inviting #supernatural love story between a fiery young woman and a fatally charming but damned angel. Charity and V’s forbidden #romance explores the limits of the heart—even if it means falling from grace.

Praise for CRAVE

“Allen weaves the glamorous life of the one percent with the darkness of the otherworld with skilled ease. She takes readers through an emotional rollercoaster, following the journey of the book’s protagonists as they struggle to understand their connection with each other.” – K.M. Levis, author of The Search for Adarna

“Gorgeously intriguing and well-written.” –Jamille Fumah, author of Day Break Series

“A flawlessly written slow burn of a romance that boils in the midst of Charity’s journey toward self-growth, openness, and understanding.” – Fe Trampe, author of The Game That Ended Us

Hii Kaye, I saw your live, so I came to leave in a question. How do you keep yourself motivated to finish a book? Like whenever I start something I stop mid the way not knowing what to do or not feeling what I was writing anymore and I just feel like starting from the beginning. Love you lots ♥️

Asked by yoongisassonfire

Hello! That’s a good question… and to be honest, I don’t always feel motivated to finish a book. That’s the honest truth and I know other writers feel that way too. It’s never easy trying to finish what you’ve started writing.

But! What I do find helpful is setting up goals or plotting it out from the beginning. I treat outlines as my guide and I go back to it everytime I’m stuck. Giving myself deadlines also helps, whether it’s writing a certain number of words a week or just making sure I write something that day. You just have to push through it and believe that the story is worth finishing. There will be days when it feels like you’re dragging your feet to the finish line, but there will also be days when it feels like you’re on a race car and it’s almost too easy to write it. That’s the fun part about it. The journey of your writing, so just enjoy it! ❤️

“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.” - Jude

This is the third time I’m reading a Faerie novel, the first being Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series which I totally adored and a Melissa Marr’s Wicked Lovely series. I also read about the Fey in Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series and was aware that there are two kinds of faerie stories: the cute ‘Tinkerbell’ kind and the dark kind. Cruel Prince is obviously the latter, and I AM JUST BLOWN AWAY BY THIS STORY!

The Cruel Prince is the first of three books in The Folk of The Air series. I heard many great things about Holly Black’s work and this is my first time reading her books. Safe to say, I am now a fan. I devoured the trilogy in a week and haven’t picked up anything in days because my heart was still in Elfhame. I had a serious case of book hangover that I am currently re-reading the whole thing!

“I am going to keep on defying you. I am going to shame you with my defiance. You remind me that I am a mere mortal and you are a prince of Faerie. Well, let me remind you that means you have much to lose and I have nothing. You may win in the end, you may ensorcell me and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down. I promise you this is the least of what I can do.” - Jude

Cruel Prince follows the story of Jude Duarte, a mortal who was raised in Faerieland and her pursuit for power and acceptance among the folk. Usually changelings are the other way around, so it was refreshing to read about a human living among the Fey. What I love about this book more than its page-turner plot is the worldbuilding and characters. I felt like Holly really knew her characters from the beginning and gave us these solid personalities. And I’m not just talking about Jude and Prince Cardan, but the supporting characters, as well. Their dialogue, mannerisms, and just overall role play in the book was consistent and believable.

I love how Cardan is portrayed as the villain in Jude’s life while bigger enemies lurked in the background, setting up higher stakes and creating earth-shattering plot twists that you barely saw coming because you were so immersed in the world and what was happening in the plot presently. Elfhame is such an fun world to imagine and Holly’s writing style is irresistibly readable—somewhere in the middle of contemporary and whimsical, which is how I would describe the whole book.

“Most of all, I hate you because I think of you. Often. It’s disgusting, and I can’t stop.” - Cardan

The romantic element was subtle, which made it all the more maddening. We all know it’s going to be an enemies to lovers story and I was just dying to see how their relationship will unfold through the series. Let me tell you, ‘hating’ has never been this sexy.

Cruel Prince has all you want in a dark fantasy: magic, palace intrigue, a sexy faerie prince, and a fierce heroine. Buckle up! You’re in for a ride—one that will have you catching your breath as you turn the very last page. Highly recommended!!!
