On Making It In America: Two Case Studies

She's compared Jin and Shah Rukh Khan on their strengths, weaknesses, and different ways of expressing themselves, trying to make it in the US market. Shah Rukh, for the uninformed, is one of the major Bollywood stars from India.

so i went down to get tea and water my plants. as soon as i'm done watering and pruning, the sky starts to darken and a few (giant) stray drops of rain hit me, so i'm like, "??" and turn on the weather network. learn there's a severe weather warning for our region for thunderstorms and hail and MAYBE EVEN TORNADOES WITH 120 MPH WINDS. and then the lightning and thunder starts and i start freaking out and like "OMG MY PLANTS, WHAT DO I DO WITH MY PLANTS OMG MY TOMATOES"

and then my mom helps me in my mad scramble to bring all my containers in before the rain starts, but i got pretty wet in the end. and i'm like "BUT THE ONES ON THE GROUND, WHAT DO I DO. OMG MY JALAPENOS AND PEPPERS AND NOOO MY BRUSSELS SPROUTS KJADFLKJDKAU;SOFJLCKVJLAKJF"

and my mom's like "if they survive, they survive :|"

which is totally not helpful and then i panic again and rush to the garage to get random boxes and then i rush back and open the door to the backyard.

thunder: *ALMOST SHAKES THE HOUSE IT IS SO LOUD*

IT WAS SO INSANE LKASJDLKJD IT KEPT LIGHTNING-ING AND THUNDER-ING REALLY INTENSELY AND IT WAS SO DARK AND I WAS LIKE "MY POOR, POOOOR PLANTS" AND THEN I GATHERED MY COURAGE AND RUSHED OUT WITH MY BOXES AND PICKED UP A FEW STONES ON THE WAY AND I PLONKED THE BOXES (CAREFULLY) OVER MY PLANTS AND THE STONES ON TOP AND I RUSHED BACK IN AND ALMOST FELL BUT I DIDN'T, THANK GOD AND I GOT IN THE HOUSE AND SLID THE DOOR SHUT AND KIND OF COLLAPSED

AND THEN IT KEPT STORMING AND MY HEART WAS BEATING SO HARD I COULD HEAR IT IN MY EARS AND I WAS SO SCARED ALKSDJFJ;;AOF;LJDVLK;LADJLJFLKJCA

we're still supposed to have thunderstorms and stuff through the night and tomorrow so THE BOXES (and stones) STAY ON AND MY TOMATOES (and assorted other plants) STAY IN THE HOUSE FOR THE MOMENT ALKDSJLKJKLAFJKAJA

...for a quick post. People not into SHINee and/or who have not got the track 'Lucifer' stuck in their head at some point in time will probably not be interested.

I have ranted at many people about the inability to sing along with Korean songs because of the weird way Korean is romanized. This causes poor non-Korean-speaking fangirls a great deal of frustration, especially when you really want to sing along to the k-pop song that's been stuck in your head for days, but the lyrics page turns up words that seem to have absolutely nothing in common with what is being sung, and instead looks like "laksjdf vlkjsdsa iutlsdj" so you end up making nonsense words to go with the incomprehensible sounds instead. Not terribly satisfying, but needs must. :(

I was talking to one of my friends today, introducing SHINee to her and predictably, she was like "WHAT ARE THEY SAYING, NO, REALLY" so I was like "DON'T LOOK AT THE LYRICS, IT JUST SOUNDS LIKE THIS" and ended up typing it out, kind of re-romanizing(???) it in the chatbox. And then I was like, fuck it, and I, uh, edited the entirety of the original Lucifer lyrics (yes, including the rap part askdjfalj) and rewrote it to make it easier to, er, sing along. ... ... ...I know. I know. It's pathetic laksdjfa BUT IT WAS JUST BORN OUT OF HELPLESS FRUSTRATION lskjfa the document is here. It might or might not make sense to anyone but me, idk... :| But just, y'know, on the off-chance that any of you want to be insane with me. alskfaklmvlamvjasoigjsigjlkfjalkjjelfkjkva.

And now I can go back to my hiatus. *FLEES*

It all started because of sapphy-chan (sapphynashi, also known as sakameko), who tweeted despairingly to mi-chan (misao_duo) that she had composed a kame love-essay on her way home from work. mi-chan and i urged her to post, and mi-chan replied that maybe that might give her the excuse to post her own insane kame love post without fears of a mass defriending. I know, right, as if. :|
