Mederuman

Mederuman Artist / Sculptor

Focusing on the "Huggable Cat" (Dakko-neko) series, I create tactile sculptures that engage both sight and touch. My work is designed to be completed through the act of touching, exploring the potential of "communication-based art" both in Japan and internationally.

My unique creative process is rooted in a heightened physical awareness developed through over 40 years of martial arts training. By translating the deep sensory perception of the body into three-dimensional forms, I seek to bridge the gap between the observer and the object through the medium of touch.

Major Awards & Exhibitions:

• 2026 Feb: Exhibited at "Tokyo Cat Art Exhibition 2026," O Museum, Tokyo.

• 2020 Jul: Awarded the "Encouragement Prize" at the 18th ZEN-ten Exhibition, Ginza Daikokuya Gallery.

• 2018 Mar/Apr: Awarded the "Paris Venue Prize" at "Paris NEKO Collection 2018," held in Paris, France, and Bunkamura, Shibuya.

Ma démarche artistique se concentre sur la série « Dakko-neko » (Le chat que l'on enlace), une œuvre sculpturale qui sollicite à la fois la vue et le toucher. Conçues comme des œuvres d'art interactives, mes créations ne sont parachevées que par le contact physique, explorant ainsi de nouvelles dimensions de l'art de la communication.

Inspiré par une pratique des arts martiaux débutée dès l'adolescence, je puise dans ma conscience corporelle pour donner forme à une expression tactile unique. Mon travail a été reconnu sur la scène internationale, notamment en France.

Distinctions et Expositions :

• Fév 2026 : Exposition « Tokyo Cat Art Exhibition 2026 », O Museum, Tokyo.

• Juil 2020 : Prix d'Encouragement, 18ème Exposition ZEN-ten, Galerie Ginza Daikokuya.

• Mar/Avr 2018 : Lauréat du « Prix du Jury de Paris » lors de la « Paris NEKO Collection 2018 », présentée à Paris et à Bunkamura (Shibuya).
