セキドタロウアン　茶人の名がつき今も茶花に使われる椿

関戸太郎庵 （セキドタロウアン）


ツツジ目、ツバキ科、ツバキ属


江戸中期の茶人、高田太郎庵（タカダタロウアン）
が愛したとされる椿の品種。これは尾張の豪商の
関戸家に伝わり、現在では愛知県犬山市の常満寺
に、その古木が残っているもの。


花形は一重の筒咲き、花径は中輪で５～７ｃｍ程。
花弁色は清楚で淡桃色のもので、花弁先端がやや
波打つ特徴を持ち、優しい印象を与えてくれる。
開花時期は１１〜４月と長い期間を楽しめる椿で
茶花としても人気がある。

This is a camellia variety that was beloved by Takada Tarouan, a tea master of the mid-Edo period. The plant was passed down through the Sekido family, a wealthy merchant family in Owari. Today, an ancient tree of this variety remains at Jōmanji Temple in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture.


The flower has a single, tubular shape with a medium-sized bloom measuring approximately 5 to 7 cm in diameter. Its petals are a delicate, pale pink with slightly wavy edges, giving it a gentle and elegant appearance. Blooming from November to April, this camellia has a long flowering period and is popular as a tea ceremony flower.
