◆How does a narrative essay centered on fashion come together? In “Afterword –Hilda's Voice–,” I explain the creative techniques used in each piece. At the end, I also introduce the next piece◆
It’s Hilda.
Yes, I absolutely love fantasy! How did ▷ Ep.3 Bearing Magic and Wings ◁ come across to you?
As I mentioned in ▷ Ep.2 Afterword –Hilda's Voice– ◁, this piece centers on the theme of “transformation.”
There were 2 main things I focused on while creating this piece.
1.Character Development
I usually create my pieces in the following order: [outline → draft → revision → proofreading]. But this time, I developed the character details alongside the outline—their background, personality, habits...even a theme song (haha). Though I’m not well-versed in music, I picked well-known songs that match the character’s image and listened to them as I wrote. I hope you’ll enjoy imagining the character’s backstory as you read!
2.Metaphor and Symbolism
In creating this piece, because it’s fantasy, I was all the more careful not to ignore reality. Every element in the story—the characters, dialogue, colors, and objects—represents something from the real world. By expressing them through metaphor and symbolism rather than explanation, I designed the piece so your own memories and experiences might naturally resonate with it. And actually…it also helped me stick to ▷ the Japanese character limit ◁ !!
*The piece is first written in Japanese, then translated into English.
Um…this one’s just a bit of a wild card…so the next two pieces will be more grounded: real-life personal style analysis!
To wrap up, let me introduce the next piece, Ep.4—the first of those two.
