◆How does a narrative essay centered on fashion come together? In “Afterword –Hilda's Voice–,” I explain the creative techniques used in each piece. At the end, I also introduce the next piece◆
Hi, it’s Hilda!
How was ▷ Ep.2 Dressed in Friendship ◁…? If anything in it resonated with you, that means the world to me. As the creator… well, I brought this on myself, but sticking to ▷ 200 Japanese characters per chapter ◁ was honestly tough―I really struggled!
*The piece is first written in Japanese, then translated into English.
This piece tells of a scene from my past that has stayed with me.
There were 2 main things I wanted to express through it.
1. The Contrast Between “Light” and “Shadow” (A Binary Opposition)
It’s a universal theme that has been explored across many fields. I asked myself, “How would I express it?”—and thought deeply. So, I wove many elements of “light” and “shadow”—within each chapter, of course, but also through the contrasts between specific chapters. Especially in the final chapter, the contrast becomes clear. “What is light, and what is shadow?”—Hope you enjoy how it’s put together and all the touches inside!
2. Transformation Through Fashion
Fashion is an essential element throughout this series. In this piece, I expressed it through the theme of “transformation.” This is the part I poured my heart into—it was fun to write, and I rewrote it more than any other part! If it leaves you thinking, “Fashion really is something special,” I’d be so happy. In the next piece, I’ll delve even deeper into what “transformation” can mean.
I’ll wrap things up by introducing the next piece, Ep.3.
