玉置浩二「田園」考
Koji Tamaki said - "The lyrics of Den-en are exactly what I was going through when I was at my most messed up. I was going through many things, learning about relationships, and finally figured it out. I finally understood, "I'm going to live, and that's all right." (The lyrics were written with the help of music producer Akira Sudō.) 玉置浩二はこう語っている──「田園の詞は、まさに俺が一番グチャグチャになってたときのことをまとめた詞なんだ。いろんなことがあって、人間関係も勉強して、やっとわかってきた。『生きていくんだ、それでいいんだ』って。」（作詞は、音楽プロデューサーの須藤晃に手伝ってもらって出来上がった。）
According to Wikipedia, "Tamaki became distrustful of people due to the suspension of activities in AnzenChitai and other factors, stopped coming home, and began refusing to talk to people. On the advice of others, he was admitted to a mental hospital. Then he was drugged and forced to live only in bed, escaped from the hospital after three days, and returned to his parents' home in Hokkaido to recuperate." His parents' home is in the Nagayama district of Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. Indeed, the lyrics of "Den-en" may be difficult to understand because they attempt to express Tamaki's sensitive and complex "messy" state of mind, but he says, "There are many people in the world, and I am one of them. There are all kinds of people in the world who are sad about all kinds of things. But I really thought that even if I couldn't do anything, as long as I was alive, that was all that mattered." The lyrics express this well, making the song a masterpiece that many people can replace themselves with and be moved by. 確かに、「田園」の歌詞は玉置の繊細複雑な“グチャグチャな”精神状態を表現しようとしているので、理解するのは難しいかもしれないけれど、「世の中にはいろんなやつがいる、と。いろんなことで悲しんでる。でもなんにもできなくてもさ、生きていればそれでいいんだ、ってほんとに思った」と彼が語っていることが歌詞によく表現されているので、自分の身に置き換えて多くの人々が感動する傑作となった。

I will never forget his fresh expression when he sang the song accompanied by TOKIO at his first "comeback" appearance in NHK's Kohaku ( 1996 ). 僕は特に”カムバック"して初めてNHKの紅白に出場して、TOKIOを伴奏させて歌い終えた時 ( 1996 )の彼の清々しい表情が忘れられない。（紅白の時のものは見つからなかったので、次はその時と似た感じのパフォーマンスの動画。）
Of course, the following arrangement, which incorporates the melody of Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony; Den-en" (2021), was also a great one that is "stylish" and good...勿論、ベートーベンの「田園」のメロディを織り込んだ次のアレンジのもの (2021)も、“おしゃれ”でいいんだけれど…。
