[Header Image] Kasado Shrine 加佐登神社⛩️ taken on 10th January 2011.

I have visited Mie Prefecture several times, roughly listed as follows:

This article is not intended to cover the above trips, but just to show some photos taken during the latest trip in November 2025 without captions.

Back in January 2011

I paid a visit to Kasado Shrine 加佐登神社 located near Kasado Station in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture 三重県鈴鹿市 in January 2011, but my main purpose was to pay a visit to Tsubaki Ōkami-no-yashiro 椿大神社, an ichinomiya of the former Ise Province.
N.B. Ise Grand Shrine 伊勢神宮 is not an "ichinomiya" of any former province.

I became interested in Kasado Shrine because its name reminded me of Khazad-dûm from "The Lord of the Rings", though it may sound like a joke.

Later, I learned the legend telling that Yamato Takeru 日本武尊 died in the area called Nobono, where Nobono Shrine 能褒野神社 is located.
It's located not far from Kasado Shrine, and it's been in my mind…

November 2025

I had the opportunity to visit the following shrines in Mie Prefecture in the middle of November 2025:

  • Urufushine Shrine 宇流冨志禰神社 in Nabari City 名張市

  • Nobono Shrine 能褒野神社 in Kameyama City 亀山市

  • Fuke-Kōtatsudai Shrine 布気皇館太神社 in Kameyama City 亀山市

Itinerary of this trip is:

So 14+ years passed since my visit to Kasado Shrine.
Considering my physical condition, I thought this could be my last trip, so I did not want to miss Nobono shrine…

I'm not a researcher but just a layman, and simply enjoy paying visits to shintō shrines⛩️ on foot. For research level articles, I'm pleased to refer to the series of brilliantly enlightening articles by キキ様 such as the following:

My sincere thanks to sayo kagura様🙏 who suggested that I pay a visit to Urufushine Shrine 宇流冨志禰神社⛩️

Nobono Shrine

Fuke-Kōtatsudai Shrine

Oshiyama Shrine

On the way from Fuke-Kōtatsudai Shrine to JR Kameyama Station, I stopped by Oshiyama Shrine 忍山神社 known as the birthplace of the tragic heroine Princess Ototachibana 弟橘媛. the consort of Prince Yamato Takeru according to the Nihon Shoki.

Tōkaidō (road)

On the way from Nobobo Shrine to JR Idagawa Station 井田川駅 of JR Kansai Main Line 関西本線, I happened to walk a short stretch ~200m of the Old Tōkaidō road 旧東海道, though it was not the main purpose of my trip to Mie Prefecture.
Also, I found myself walking along Old Tōkaidō road when I walked from Fuke-Kōtatsudai Shrine to JR Kameyama Station via Oshiyama Shrine.
In order to visit Fuke-Kōtatsudai Shrine, I took a community bus at Seki Station 関駅.  Famous Seki-shuku 関宿 is located near Seki Station.
The following fabulous article is very informative about Old Tōkaidō road.
