"The dreaded question. "So, what's your Ph.D. research about?" You could bore them with an explanation. Or you could dance."
That's the idea behind "Dance Your Ph.D." Over the past 3 years, scientists from around the world have teamed up to create dance videos based on their graduate research. This year's contest, launched in June by Science, received 45 brave submissions.
Today, judges—including scientists, choreographers, and past winners—announced the finalists in four categories: physics, chemistry, biology, and social sciences. Each receives $500.
The judges will announce the winner next month at the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York City. But you can vote for your favorite now. We'll reveal the victor—and our reader pick—on 19 October.

Hey all, Just a reminder that Sakura Sunday (Cherry Blossom Festival highlight) in Philadelphia is this sunday. Come on down and visit us at our Zenkaikon/Delaware Anime Society Booth to play video games, enter a cosplay contest, or just say hi!

This spring, from March 5 - April 17, Philadelphia's beautiful flowering trees will come into bloom for the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia. A program of the Japan America Society of Greater Philadephia, the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Grea...ter Philadelphia is an initiative to encourage a better understanding of the cultural, social, and educational customs of Japan and the United States. For hundreds of years, Japan has been celebrating the beauty of the elegant pink cherry blossom with picnics under the trees accompanied by traditional music and dance. Set under the blossoming canopy of Philadelphia’s cherry trees, our Festival is a chance to experience a centuries-old tradition that celebrates the fleeting splendor of spring like no other. Join tens of thousands in savoring the fruits of Japan’s rich cultural heritage before the flowers fall! The Festival benefits the JASGP Community Tree Planting Project, which seeks to beautify the Philadelphia landscape by annually planting and maintaining cherry trees in Philadelphia parks. In the spring of 2007, the JASGP finished planting 1,000 cherry trees to supplement the 1,600 flowering trees donated by Japanese government as a gesture of friendship in 1926. The 2010 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival will span from March 5 to April 17, with the centerpiece event of the Festival - SAKURA SUNDAY - taking place on April 11th in Fairmount Park's Horticulture Center. Be part of a centuries-old tradition as we bring together the best in Japanese art, cuisine, dance, fashion, flowers, music and much more! Dozo, oide kudasai! We look forward to seeing you.

But I don't know where I'll be at that time :\
Dammit, why'd I have to go and breed?
