POW WOW: GREAT SPY EXPERIMENT, ETC & THE JERMS GO "POW!" [17 Nov 2005|11:17pm]

tajmall

Friday – 18 Nov 05

ETC (starting 9.30pm prompt)
THE JERMS
GREAT SPY EXPERIMENT

Prince of Wales
101 Dunlop Street, Little India, Singapore
Tel: 6299 0130
Where? HERE

ETC “Praised by members of Blur, Foo Fighters, Fugazi, Galaxie 500 and Sonic Youth, Etc continue to defy poverty, immigration and categorisation with their own brand of bittersweet psychopop. Having gained a place on the BBC's ‘Global Top 10’, and touted by The Straits Times as the most literate band playing in Singapore, Etc continue to follow their gut instinct to stay true the most primal urges and spontaneity at the heart of the purest rock & roll. They miss John Peel badly. They use open tunings. And they like it when you dance."
www.myspace.com/abcdetc
www.etcmusic.blogspot.com

THE JERMS “The Jerms will showcase their catchy indie-pop tunes from their upcoming album. Their continuous focus is on light-hearted melodies and snappy lyrics that speak of youthful zest and the fun of carefree observers in Singapore's plastic society.
carefree observers in Singapore's plastic society."
www.thejerms.com

GREAT SPY EXPERIMENT "Kick-ass rock informed by everything except J-Lo, ... towards the edgier end of the rock spectrum, pushed on by the current surge of the new wave ... (and now with keyboardist) as a truly welcome disruption to the whole boy-band thing they had going. Still in their formative stage, the band has been very productive with a whole bunch of originals already in the bag. Do watch out for their debut album 'The Flower Show Riots' due out next year."

“WHERE FOR ART THOU BABY-FACE? / Pow pow pow pow / Pow pow pow pow / Is this love? Is this love? POW! He shoot it inside / POW! / Some kinda love... Don't let 'em steal your heart away... Hey hey hey POW!!" -- Hamlet The Birthday Party: Hamlet (1982)

“(Furniture)want(s) to disassociate itself from (Post-rock), but capture the adventurous unclassifiable spirit behind the original intent of the term."

-Frontman Ronnie Khoo, on Furniture being pigeonholed as a Post-Rock band.

After a mesmerizing performance at Baybeats 2005, come soak in the lush,
ambient sounds of Malaysian experimental/dream pop veterans Furniture

free tickets... [11 May 2005|11:25pm]

althekiller
To see Ted Leo in providence tomorrow (thursday may 11th). I won the tickets through the radio, WQRI, but i can't make it down to the show. if you want them, there are two, just go to the office or whatever at the show and say your name is matt wall and you are with wqri. who ever gets there first and claims them gets in for free. if no one tries, its just a waste of good tickets.

racehorserock
Racehorse Records, an independent label, is now accepting demos for Takeout Volume 1. This is a compilation we will be releasing this summer for all east coast Warped Tour dates. That means it's a lot of exposure for your band. It will have tracks from RACEHORSE artists and other bands that we love (it may even include your band!). Please e-mail Ryan at racehorserecordsryan@hotmail.com with a brief bio of your band and an mp3 site. He'll get back to you if we are interested. Thanks!

RACEHORSE RECORDS was always not only an idea, but a dream of three guys. Now it's a reality. Formed in January of 2005, RHR was created by Neal Karkhanis, Luke Layton, and Ryan Gravell. We love music. It's always been a passion for all of us, whether it be playing it or simply enjoying it. After all, it's the soundtrack to our lives.
