community always kills everything
fr dod:s may not be an absolute perfect game but it's well made enough to say it's fun to play

but it all goes down to waste when majority of the servers are run by the community with admins full of immature attitude.

No wonder why this game is not as popular as the other source multiplayer games. Sure, most of the source multiplayer games that were released back in like early to mid 2000s are quite dead by now, but I think dod:s lost its popularity much faster than others

games gud, community sucks balls lol

Unfortunately true... Pretty sad for DoDS indeed
well, maybe if the so called "community" just done the simple thing as blacklisting the toxic haters and their servers... this could be prevented years ago.

and yet i still seeing every week someone going back to ARP or 6th rangers or any other questionable servers to play and asking for more punishment.

i guess you guys get what you deserve. :skul:

at least i ain't one of those who visit those servers again, only to be punished further
What did you expect? It's a old computer game when it is mostly center around clan base servers that been there for god knows how long.

I didn't expect anythin. Just wanted to leave a statement cuz it's a fact
Another person I knew said this, i said this as well and I will it again on here. Clear example of sh!t development, yes running your own server is a sign of development because you are inserting your own rules and identity into something that can or cannot work with, also games like DOD never had a strong community to begin with which is not bad thing.
I think the only reason this game is even still alive is because of the community.

My suggestion is if you don't like a server, then don't play on it. Furthermore you should go start your own server.

I don't know what servers you're referring to with bad admins but not all servers have bad admins.

From my experience, yes, you are right. I actually came across some servers with chill people. But sadly, 80% of the servers I've encountered were not the case.

I know this post is pretty recent but it's been a while since I joined any servers in this game because of the said reason. The only reason I'd boot this game up again for now is for other reasons such as looking around the maps in solo.
Don´t think that at all.
Maybe you ain´t have lucky finding servers.

Im playing in PTD Realism server, and is full of nice people. Fun people to play, and to talk about stuff. Also, in the french server 24/7, people is cool. Never fin an admin or anything. Just pure deathmatch and fun.

Good to see people like you bringing up a good example that this game does have a community where majority of people are nice. It would've been nice if this game had more community servers like that.

Well not gonna lie here, even if some people in this community that are keeping the game alive. That's not really saying much, there are multiple old computer games suffering the same playability issue as this game. That whole trash admin-as-hall-monitor thing from the early days of dedicated servers that is still a thing in the year 2026 is the reason why this game has a low player count.

Imagine buying this underrated valve game, you jumped into a server just to play the game. Then you are greeted by some clan dork telling you not to shoot an object on the wall in spawn, but if you dare to ask about it, they tell you to rent a server if you don't like it? Hosting servers in games like this nowadays is not as successful as it use to be. When the game came out and it was brand new. Sure, you can have a success like no problem, to build your own community.

But trying to have a new server that will fill up with players in daily is pretty difficult in modern times sadly. Not saying all admins or servers are unfair, but you would think being a clan admin and doing it as a full-time job is a bit silly?

You certainly got the point there. It doesn't help the fact that this game's been out for nearly 2 decades and not many players still play this. Especially when majority of the remaining players have aggressive attitude towards others.

If I really want to open a successful server, there's a better games to open a server for.
VoD isn't a clan, more like a group of friends that help with server needs.

If you're looking for a laid back group. We just good around and have fun.

Currently doing our Halloween theme.

Also no admins will do any of everything discussed in VoD.

Hopefully see ya around
Forgot to mention the reason DOD never took off is because of valve. If you know the history of the game. This isn't valves game. They bought the original game, then made a source version. After that they buried it. Their main focus was TF2, portal.... Counter strike everything.

So blame valve.... Not the community.

Technically most of those valve games were not even valve's to begin with either. Just like DOD, they were started by someone else but valve later recruit them and turned the games into their own. Only difference is that valve never gave enough crap on DOD whereas other games they did.
