Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Unfair Moderation: To the Steam Mods known as John, Donald, and Wren
It’s getting really hard to ignore the pattern at this point: legitimate community servers get buried, FastPath‑aligned posts stay untouched, and anyone who raises concerns gets slapped with moderation.

I’m not sure how this is supposed to be “fair discussion,” because right now it feels like the only thing being moderated is criticism, not the behavior that’s actually hurting Source communities.

When posts exposing FastPath’s manipulation get taken down while FastPath‑friendly threads stay up, it doesn’t look like neutrality. It looks like selective enforcement. And selective enforcement always benefits the people gaming the system.

Communities deserve transparency. They deserve equal treatment. And they deserve moderation that protects players, not networks that exploit them.

If Steam wants healthy discussions, then the retaliation reporting and one‑sided takedowns need to stop. Let people talk about what’s actually happening in their games.

Would indeed be interesting to know why the multiple alt spam threads advertising a server are considered acceptable when reported, but then a single promotional post for a server that hasn't done one in 10 years but happens to be the most popular co-op server in the game is considered against the advertising rules.

We should have consistency. I'm fine with my post being removed as advertising if that is the standard, but then to the mod who will inevitably lock this thread / delete this thread please just take a look at the WHOLE forum. This one by one moderation of the posts is harming the whole community which i'd say is in the worst state its ever been in.

If the other posts are not removed I expect mine to be reinstated, but I can't file a dispute since that part of your site is broken.

I have already adjusted my steam review of the game based on the fact valve seems to endorse server browser manipulation. Its now a negative review.

No one will be reading this or any other thread, post here or content in general anywhere unless it's reported. It's jut the way things work here. Mods act on reported content and don't have any authority over community servers or anything like that, nor do they 'manage' 'communities'.
Last time this kinda thread got locked real quick and they left a comment. So if they do that again hopefully they read it. If not its at least public now.
Yes, if someone reports any of these posts, reports along with at least some bits of the reported posts will be read to determine whether the reports are justified, i.e. the reported content violates the rules. Nothing else. That's it.

If that were 100% true, Michael would not have locked this thread within literally 30* minutes...

Sure, fAssPath clowns could've reported it, but unless they have Steam Mods 'on the inside' or on their payroll - who act proactively and without prior direction - the lock would NOT have happened so fast.

So yes, using mod names does get direct attention... which was likely devoid of prior reports. I do have plenty of evidence that shows Mods working with FastPath, but never THAT fast.
From the closed thread

The Steam discussions aren't the right place to dispute forum bans. We encourage you to contact Steam Support.

Maybe if Steam Support was working and not broken you could dispute bans, then that would be the route to take but as it stands Steam Support has not been contactable for days.

When people are being ignored then threads like this will appear.

Are you kidding me? ...Wow, yeah, they did remove it. Pathetic.

I literally reported the FastPath threads for advertising, and I was denied twice. And FastPath is CLEARLY a commercial entity with prices, payments, and sales... which all use Valve's Intellectual Property...
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3795164791

And these people posting FastPath promotional threads are likely the same people spamming the hl2dm official hub group-chat, with all but one of those trolls suffering NO consequences whatsoever.

ADD THIS SAME GROUP OF USERS HAVE SPAMMED THE DISCUSSIONS BOARDS IN THE PAST WITH NO CONSEQUENCES:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3778545288

These mod-morons are clearly targeting anti-fastpath sentiments while only doing the 'bare minimum' amount of moderation for so-called pro-fastpath people. They act like their ♥♥♥♥ doesn't stink and how they are above the rules, which would suggest official support coming from inside the Steam Support team itself.

EDIT: Oh wow, they tried reporting my FastPath website screenshot, that's why it's not embedding. Hilarious. Lets see if it will ever embed again... later.
Nope. Screenshot of FastPath's MOTD/prices thing still won't embed. That seems like mod interference to me, because I can still embed other steam content images.
Dear Moderators,

When will you lift the ban on me contacting Steam Support?

Is this a fight against real server owners that fight against a certain server, not named because no doubt i would be banned for naming and shaming, though if they weren't breaking the ToS, not using underhand tactics, accepting payment to unban people etc. there would be less drama.

Why do they continue to be allowed to "Promote" their servers while others get threads removed or posts deleted?
Its already resulted in me no longer caring about the game at the moment, I only still care about my own communities. If valve wants to fight us for trying to help their game, fine. Then I won't fight for your game at all and just say that the spam servers are the most accurate representation of Half-Life 2 Deathmatch like valve intended. I review the game based on this representation, because if good server posts get removed and their stuff gets left up then obviously that is how HL2DM is meant to be played.

And if it is then dead because people find it a bad game, then its solely on valve. Because this is what you want HL2DM to be after all.

And if this gets to the point of day of defeat where they are the only thing left, and nobody is going to find HL2DM enjoyable anymore as a result don't blame the people who put 15 years of effort in. Blame your own moderators.
I've been fighting them since 2022 and cant believe how bad the moderation of this community has got. To me Valve would be only too glad to see the death of this game, they get nothing out of it and haven't for years.

BUT when I get a 7 day ban for merely giving a players name, a name that is visible on their profile page, and they can constantly name players and say what they like about that player and get away with it, well it speaks volumes.

I came close to closing my server about 2 years ago, I stopped playing myself BUT then I thought why should the scum win but I don't know how long this game will last under these conditions.

The community is in an amazing state right now. People are finally seeing through the false anti-Fastpath narrative and realizing that Fastpath did nothing wrong. We are pro!
If FP is that fantastic answer me this.
1. why do FP flood the community forums, you know the ones that "spread lies about FP" with so much nonsense,
2. why are FP players/ admins banned from so many forums and servers?
3. Why do you feel the need to come to the forums that are anti FP rather than stay on your own community forums?
4. why do you feel the need to use headings every time you post something?

If you truly think the community is in an amazing state you clearly never played when it was thriving and servers were full most of the time, and no one even thought about FP.

They aren't, the only thing different is that I blame valve instead of fastpath at this point.

When do you play hl2dm? I never see you on any server, even the lone FastPath one.

Also, as I explained to BobStar and you previously, FastPath violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement:

I can understand a language barrier contributing to how you don't seem to know what I am talking about, but this still feels like you are deliberately ignoring what we are actually saying.

Anyone can PAY MONEY to be UNBANNED on FastPath servers, with reported cases of even VAC banned players being able to pay their way 'in' with an 'unban.'

The bans themselves are arbitrary and used to scam people into PAYING MONEY to FastPath.

So - to what you are 'trying' to say in your reply - ban anyone you'd like, but FastPath* needs to stop selling the ability to ban players and allowing people to pay money to be 'unbanned.'

Separate "MONEY" from anything to do with a server-ban, and only then does your reply make sense.

"Can?" Sure. But are they ALLOWED to? No. Right now, some Left 4 Dead servers have maps with cartoonish depictions of pedophilia. So those servers CAN upload those kind of images, but are they allowed to? Can this be done WITHOUT breaking rules?

Again, "No."

And If you meant to imply that scraping client data is NOT against any rules, that's just categorically untrue. And we showed you this before:

So, to quote you my dear Boi, perhaps you should...
"stop being so intellectually dishonest for once?"
(which you said here when trying to compare the unauthorized use of custom BoucyBall maps to the SSA-ToS violating redirection servers that FastPath uses.)
