Mantella
Anybody tried it in Fallout 4? I'm using it in Skryim SE with LM Studio running the ai locally for unlimited access and it's absolutely amazing. The only other game I'm even interested in playing is Fallout 4, because you can play it with Mantella.

Ew.

Hell no. It can burn in a fire like it's leading our climate. No thank you.

I love how this is basically like watching a tutorial questline from the NPC's perspective.

I was actually blow away from it. The AI VO is still quite... 'digital' but it's advancing quickly.
is that for real

Honestly, I'd rather they sound like the in-game characters anyways, so it's okay that it's just replicating the original voices.

Agreed.

Still... it's somewhat lacking in the smoothness of natural speech. Abruptly ending with the emphasis of a mid-sentence word.

Nonetheless, it is great, IMO.

Let me guess...because you hate ai. As if Fallout 4 wasn't already full of ai...

It isn't, though.

Not one piece of it was made using this atrocity of human-ignorant code.

NPCs on schedules in Diamond city are hardly different than an LLM. They're just less complex and sophisticated. This is exactly what we SHOULD be using ai for. Not to take over the world. To help us with modding!
I was researching and attempting to make a thesis about the "Treatment of Artificial-Human-Like-Intelligences in the Media" from about 1994 to around 09 but after that point it got too muddled to include newer media, and after around 2018 or so became almost impossible to find anything that wasn't relating to the current slop coding ai.

I know the difference between 'the code that is written in a game or generator' and 'the absolute mess of large language models'. One of those works. Because one of those was made by humans, for humans, to entertain themselves. The other does not work. Because it lacks even one small iota of 'conceptual self-awareness'. But it can tell you how many Rs are in strawberry. Oh wait, no it cannot. Because it does not in any way know what the letter R is.

I would love to. But it sounds like tons of work to set up and am otherwise happy with my setup.

ChatGPT, write a thesis about the "Treatment of Artificial-Human-Like-Intelligences in the Media" from about 1994 to around 09.

... awe, it's too long to copy-paste. ChatGPT worked so hard on it too.
