One day until the Update: Do you have your Popcorn and Beer ready?
So, there is an expected Bethesda update tomorrow...

And, we regulars can remember the last time (May 27) an update dropped and all the people losing their minds because they didn't protect their game files by locking the appmenifest_377160 and 489830 (Skyrim SE) to "read only"...

So my question to the regulars is:
Do you have your beer and popcorn ready for the Forum Fireworks that are going to erupt tomorrow IF the update happens??

I have some Irish Red ale and white cheddar popcorn ready to go!

The real craziness might actually come when Skyrim SE updates. BGS hasn't set a date yet for that announced update, and I can see them doing something incredibly stupid like rolling out the update during or near the Autumn Sale. If that happens, we'd have lots of new players wanting to try modding at the same time skse and it's dependencies were temporarily unavailable.

Edit: And if they generate a vanilla, game-crashing bug like a mesh error (which they've done before), and new players can't even play vanilla, it will be the review-bombing of the decade.
Don't think of it as an "update". Think of it as the pre-release that the mod authors get so they can update their mods. It's a given that the Script extenders and every mod that uses the script extenders will be broken.
Sometimes Bethesda "depreciates" some Papyrus code, and breaks something like Pip Boy Storage that doesn't use the Script extender, but that's not every time like the script extender mods. Those are designed to break.
Yeah, it makes the forums mostly unusable for a while, as it will be a solid wall of wailing and gnashing of teeth and people screaming abuse at Todd Howard for daring to update one of his games.

Can't say I'm particularly looking forward to it, but it is what it is. It will die down in a couple of weeks, until the next update when the whole cycle starts again.
In previous updates, I always had a hope to get fixes for famous bugs running around many years. Now I'm just smiling ;)

It's probably about Creation Club.

I will be playing Fallout silently or No man's sky during the Shockwave ©. Maybe I can play 3 or NV but I'm letting them marinate until Remasters drop..
Mine ready?
pffft... no.

I'm going to use yours.

Wait... do you have the separate 'for company only' water beer?
Glad Bethesda is putting dev time into changing the bloated and unnecessary Creations platform so all my mods break
I expect that anyone who uses CC will be up in arms. I expect the rest of us who either have a properly updated game and knowledge of how to remove anything we don't want, will be juuuuust fine.

But I will def take a big box of popcorn yessir.

Yeah, it really is kinda sad how people foam at the mouth because Bethesda updates one of their games and it breaks their mods. It's their game, they have free rein to do whatever they like with the coding, whereas fan mods are add-ons that, in extreme cases, add new functions the original game wasn't intended for (for the "script extender", it's in the name).

Like, if Valve updated the Steam client in a way that mods downloaded via Vortex from NexusMods no longer properly worked, I don't think there'd be walls of screaming gamers attacking them for it and demanding they undo the update and never try to update the client again. It sucks when a game is updated and mods break, yeah, but it's part of the culture of gaming, deal with it.
