MHW broke my main screen?
I’m using a dual-monitor setup (2 screens). When I play Monster Hunter: World on my primary monitor, pressing the Windows logo key to switch focus and let my mouse drag to the secondary monitor causes the game to react badly.

Here’s what happens most of the time:

-As soon as I press the Windows key (or otherwise switch focus so I can move the mouse to the second screen), the game flashes.
-Sometimes the game goes completely black.
-The display typically returns only after I move my mouse back to the main screen.
-More often than not, instead of staying full-screen, the game switches into windowed mode, with the window nearly the size of my main screen (but not behaving like proper full-screen)

After I finished a mission, the problem became severe. During the transition/loading to the reward screen, I again pressed the Windows key to move the mouse to my secondary monitor. At that moment, my main screen went black. Unlike before, the display never came back, even after waiting and even when moving the mouse back to the main screen.

Now I can’t get my main screen to display anything again.
The monitor’s power indicator starts blinking and then the screen remains black.

Did MHW brick my screen? Tf????

Sure, after I get my screen fixed. It's at the shop now. But I'm also afraid the game will break my screen again.
You didn't provide other key details by the way. Such as your display model, brand, the year you bought it, how long you have been using it, dimensions, resolution, frequency and so on...

It's a LG Smart TV 32" that I bought earlier this year.
Sounds like a warranty thing to me then. Probably came out of the factory in dubious state.
no, it didn't.

Yeah, it did. I don't know what to tell you. I was playing, I pressed win logo to move my mouse to the 2nd screen and poof, bye bye screen.

Yeah. It's either a huge coincidence, or the game is the culprit. I've googled this and there are people with big issues with alt-tabbing from the game. I didn't hear about a monitor completely bricking like it did with me, however, it's enough to create the possibility that it somehow created a conflict with the handshake for the HDMI signal, because it happened right as I pressed the win logo, so I'm pretty confident this was the action that caused the screen to go RIP. But of course, I can't rule out your suspicions on the reason, I still feel firm on mine tho.

aye. that's when your screen died. has nothing to do with mhw though. that would be like saying "my gf destroyed my lightbulb in the kitchen. it was working for years and years, and when she flung the switch, it died. stupid girl.. i hate her now!".

Yeah, I don't understand your angle. Sounds like this offends you, therefor it's not my issue. Think what you will, your perrogative. Have a nice day.

I guess we were both wrong. There's nothing wrong with the TV itself. It's some part of my GPU that broke. I saw the TV on with clear image at the shop, once I brought it home, same issue, can't seem to get it to work. So the only logical conclusion is that the issue is with the GPU. I use a GTX4060 btw.

you sure don't. as much as you don't understand that a game cannot break your monitor. just like a song on the radio cannot break your radio. you're clueless about computer hardware and software.

lol, you're hilarious. :-)
Or maybe it's just the cable, if you're lucky.

Also the game was indeed always weird with fullscreen. It even caused some big disconnections. Borderless fixed it for me, it's been running flawlessly since I switched to it. Could be worth a try if you can get your monitor to work again.

So yeah, in your case I would test another cable, or another monitor even.

I have 3 other HDMI cables, inculding 1 new in the box. Neither works. I've also tried the other ports in my GPU + using my DVI - HDMI adapters (I have 2, tried both). I've also re-installed my GPU drivers to no avail. I don't know where to go from here.

A song can literally break my "radio". I'm a DJ and have DJ friends that bricked entire speakers from playing music too loud. Source material can indeed brick the medium used to access them. Same as a file can brick your computer. I'm sorry thjs offends you, but there's clear evidence this game has issues with display. It's not my fault you're unable to do a quick google search. My only mistake was the assign default to my screen rather than my GPU since my secondary screen was fine I didn't suspect it. However, the game is clearly the catalyst for my current issue whether you like it or not, regardless of how much youo cry about me being wrong or ignorant. At this point you're not contribuiting or doing anything useful, so I'll just block you.
