Welcome to the U.S. Citizen Services Unit of the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis!
Passport processing times have increased. Applicants should expect at least one month from the date of application until the passport is ready for pick up.
Applicants will receive an email at the email address listed on your U.S. passport application when your new passport is ready for pick up at the U.S. Embassy. After applicants receive the email notification, applicants can stop by the U.S. Embassy Monday through Friday between 11:00am and 12:00pm to pick up new U.S. passports. Applicants do not need to make an appointment to pick up new U.S. passports.
To pick up a new U.S. passport, applicants should bring their most recent U.S. passport and a copy of the receipt from their U.S. passport application. If applicants cannot pick up their own passport, anyone with an applicant’s old passport and their receipt can pick it up on their behalf.
The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia makes periodic visits to Libya to provide American Citizen Services, including passport pick up. If applicants would like to stay informed about upcoming trips to Libya, please register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. Due to the volume of emails received, we are unable to respond to inquiries about the status of new U.S. passports until at least six weeks have passed since applying.
