The iris whispers sweet good-byes
The honeysuckle fades
The hollyhocks and marigolds
Begin their grand parades
A slow transition’s taking place
I capture one last fling
As colors melt and summer’s felt
I say farewell to spring.

It was a dark and stormy night, unplanned
The elm was creaking with the howling wind
Our hearts were keeping rhythm with the band
The moon escaped behind a cloud and grinned
What force could be so deviant, so strong
To blow the tiles atop the roof so far
And land on rooftops where they don’t belong
Then suddenly, the moon winked at the star
Come out and play! Let’s chase the storm away
I’ll light the way for making stars appear
The storm will cease; return another day
For now we’ll chase the rainbow’s end my dear.
