Today is just a day to be observed
As open skies release unfettered tears
The lines of land and water, once preserved
Now blur, consuming dreams and spawning fears
Oblivious to parched and thirsty lands
The water soaks a ground that’s had its fill
Unmatched by broken hearts and blistered hands
Our wits are still no match to Mother’s will
In Nature there’s no fair or unfair deed
But rather random acts without intent
Regardless of due prophecy or creed
It heeds no condemnation or consent
Our fears are fed and fail to be consoled
By what defies our passion for control.

I climbed the hill
to see the mill
When suddenly
I took a spill
My camera flew
my ankle grew
I concluded in the end, the view
Looked better
from the bottom – phew!
Who put that tree there anyway?
