New Mantra

Trying out a new mantra... So far it's working wonders! This one's by Mike Dooley. His words make me laugh and remember what life is about.

Excerpt from Notes from the Universe, by Mike Dooley

Let's pretend, just for today,
all day long, throughout our every thought and
decision, that life is easy, that everyone means well, and that time is on our side. Okay?

And let's pretend that we are loved beyond belief,
that magic conspires on our behalf, and that nothing
can ever hurt us without our consent.

All right?

And if we like this game, we'll play tomorrow
as well, and the next day, and the next,
and pretty soon, it won't be a game at all, because
life, for us, will become those things. Just as
it's become what it is, today.

-Mike Dooley

(There is one more sentence after the last, but for a mantra I prefer to omit it for flow knowing it's implied. Dooley wrote, "Thoughts become realities, too.")

Perspective

Reasons to feel down:
  1. The economy (currently) sucks
  2. $700B bail out
  3. Having a stubborn cold these past few day
  4. Anxious dream about being back in college
Reasons to feel up :)
  1. A great conversation with my sister this evening!
  2. Writing to Justin :)
  3. Soup from Trader Joe's
  4. A great nap this afternoon
  5. Kyasarin-chan's email
  6. My cool boss
  7. Barack Obama!
  8. Today walking home there was a nice breeze...and I thought, "This feels and smells just like the ocean...wouldn't it be nice to live on the coast by the ocean..." Until I realized that I do live by the ocean, in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city! I chuckled. I've always wanted to live by the ocean, and now I do!
  9. I (also) dreamt I found a stray dog who liked me and I took him in.
