Colorado August 2011

It has been so hot here all summer, so we took an opportunity to escape the heat and head to Colorado to visit my dad & Marcie for the week!  The boys & I flew up on Monday, I was really nervous about flying alone with both boys, but they did awesome at the airport & on the flight!  Dylan had flown once before when he was 2 when we went to Florida, but he didnt remember it!  SO...he was so excited to fly!  Their favorite part was taking off...going super fast...as Colt's says!!

silly boys waiting to board the plane!

My Dad & Marcie picked us up at the airport in Colorado Springs.  On our way to the cabin we saw this awesome buck!  He was so pretty!

Dad's cabin is about an hour and a half from the airport.  The last 30 minutes is all dirt roads...very remote....very beautiful!  I didnt get a shot of dad's cabin but here is a picture from October when they got 12" of snow.

Here is a view from his porch...where I spent a lot of time just sitting and relaxing and enjoying!!

Dad's place is obviously just big enough for him & Marcie, so we rented this cabin about a mile from them.  It was so neat, the boys loved it!  The people that own it keep some llamas on this property so the kids had fun checking them out everyday.

 This is the cabin

These are the old barns located right next to the cabin.

Dad has lots of toys, we spent many afternoons riding through the Nat'l forest.
(Notice Colt is asleep!!)

Then we would come home and do this...it was so nice!!!
(Dad watching Phineas & Ferb with Dylan & Colt & Binx)

Colt was beat this day...he fell asleep in Pops arms while riding the ranger.

Colt drove the tractor too!  He was so HAPPY!!

Here is the whole gang...Marcie & I were pushed to the back!!!

One day we went to town and visited the dinosaur museum.

Scott came in a few days later and we took a day trip to Breckenridge.  It was about and hour and half drive.  The drive was so pretty.  They have lots of fun summer activities.  We parked and rode the gondola up the mountain.  Here are the boys in the gondola....

And here is the gondola we rode.  The boys thought this was super cool!!!

Dylan & Daddy riding the lift to the slides

The slides!!!
I love this picture there is a picture somewhere of me about the same age riding these slides!!

They had a huge snow hill...in August...So FUN!!

My boys!

Mining for gold!!

The boys got up every morning ready to head over to Pops, so they could feed the llamas with him!
They made good ranch hands for the week.

Colt insisted on opening all the gates...he was obsessed!!

Loaded up ready to go on an adventure in the forest!

July 2011

We have had a very busy summer, lots of sports...we finished up baseball & started indoor soccer.

We took the boys to see Monster Truck races at TMS with Jones'.  They had a blast!

The best part was getting to ride in this MONSTER TRUCK!!!  All the boys had so much fun even the big ones and esp the littlest one...Colt!  He didnt stop smiling the entire time..so much FUN!!!

Dylan.is.swimming

I put Dylan in swimming lessons this summer at the Y.  He was so close to swimming but just a little apprehensive about putting his face under and was insistent on holding his nose.  I knew once we got past those two things he would be swimming.  All it took was one week of private lessons....and the kid is now part fish.

Here he is at Mamaw's pool...he is proud, and we are too...good job Dylan!

Colt's Mickey Party

We had a small get together for Colt's 2nd Birthday Celebration.  Colt is really into Mi-ey these days, so we had a Mickey themed party.  He was very excited!  We spent the day at the pool, and taking extra long naps to get ready for the big party!!  I had fun putting this party together, I wanted it to be fun for Colt and not too overwhelming for him....I think it turned out perfect!  He was so excited for all the Mi-ey decorations, all of which we made at home together!

I think the boys changed into their superhero costumes the minute they walked in the door!

Colt was one happy boy!

Pinata Time....

All the boys got lots of good hits on the pinata....

And Finally...it broke!!

The party was a great success, perfect for our Colt bug!  Thanks to all who came and made his party extra special, and those who weren't able to make it we missed you!  We will catch up soon!!

Happy Birthday Colt!
