Christmas 2010

Ok, so it's March.....and I am just now posting Christmas.   I promise I will try to do better :)
We had a wonderful, but extremely busy Christmas!  The boys were so much fun this year!  Colt wasn't sure what to think about the toys that appeared in our living room overnight, but he sure wasn't complaining either.  Dylan was so into Santa this year it was so much fun!  He was very curious and asking lots of questions.  It was so much fun!  I absolutely love Christmas, but I am always so happy when its over too! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season too!

ICE!!

We took the boys out to the Gaylord to see the ICE exhibit or as Dylan calls it the North Pole!  This year the ICE is themed after Charlie Brown.  I loved Snoopy when I was a kid!!!

My kids on the other hand have no clue who Charlie Brown, but they still loved it!  Colt was so cute in his little coat.  It fit him more like a floor length dress!

At one point they had a giant snowflake projected down on the floor and it was moving in circles and Colt was chasing it, in his long coat!  It was priceless!  I dont know how he didnt fall down!

Dylan did the SNOW HILL after and wasnt too crazy about the larger hill but he loved the smaller (bunny) hill.    They had so many amazing decorations there, I love going at Christmas it really sets me in the Christmas spirit!!  They had lots of trains set up throughout the hotel, and Colt was so intrigued by all them!
They had a giant gingerbread house, so cool!

Me and my sweet boys!!

Letters to Santa

Dylan and I worked on his letter to Santa.  He has been so excited this year about Santa, asking lots of questions, and begging to go so him.  So, I helped him with his list and then he signed his letter and put the address label on it.  Then we did one for Colt too.  Dylan told me what to write on Colt's list and then Dylan signed Colt's name for him!

He takes good care of his little brother!

Later that night we went to Grapevine to see the Christmas lights set to music and eat at Esparza's....yum!  Both boys loved it and didnt mind the wind or the cold.  They got up on the gazebo and danced away!  Colt was amazed by all the lights!  It was a lot of fun!!

Premier Academy Christmas Program

Dylan's school always puts together a Christmas program every year.  They all work so hard getting ready, learning new songs and a few even have speaking parts.  This year Dylan was so excited he was going to be a King in the program.  He was so excited and came home singing new Christmas songs everyday.  However once he got on stage and saw all the people staring back at him he was embarrassed.  He didnt do much but this....

He did have a small part where he walked off backstage and then came around and followed the star he did this great!  But luckly they new better than to give him any speaking roles because it wouldnt have happened!  But he still had lots of fun, so it was well worth it!  Colt enjoyed seeing him up on stage, he was pointing and laughing!  Good job Dylan, we are all so proud of you!!

Here is Dylan with some of his school buddies.

Colt's Tubes & Other weekend Happenings

Colt got tubes put in his ears on Thursday. We have only had one ear infection this summer, but the doctor suggested we still go see an ENT specialist because he has so much fluid and with fall and winter coming he didn't see his ears clearing up. We went downtown to see Dr Palmer, who came very highly recommended, and for good reason. He was wonderful. Within about 15 seconds of looking at Colt's ears he suggested tubes, he said there was so much fluid the poor baby probably couldn't even hear. I wanted him to do a hearing test and he said "there was no point, he would fail". So we scheduled the surgery for two weeks later, their first available.

We had to be at the hospital at 6:20 on Thursday and Colt's surgery was scheduled for 7:30. Colt and I were there bright and early. He did so good, he went back to sleep in the car and slept the whole way there. He was such a big boy all morning while they prepped him. Then Scott and Dylan came up right before he went back. Scott had been out of town all week, so Colt was so happy to see him, he would not let me take him back to get his anesthesia, he only wanted Daddy.

While Scott & Colt went to get Colt's anesthesia Dylan and I went to the waiting room. From there they would take Colt back to surgery and Scott would join Dylan & I in the waiting room.  As soon as Scott got in the waiting room, he and Dylan went to the restroom and they no more sat down and I could see Dr Palmer he was on his way to talk to us about Colt's surgery. They were already done!!  I know this is a very routine surgery, but anytime they start talking to you about anesthesia and the things that "could" go wrong it is so scary. I can't even imagine having to endure a long surgery, or a long illness. Everything went perfect and Dr Palmer said he had lots of fluid in both ears and talked to us for a few minutes.  Then, Dr Palmer left I assumed he was going to his next surgery, but he came back with a muffin for Dylan, he was so good to Dylan. I was surprised because they strongly urge you to not bring siblings. Then about 10 min later the nurse came to tell us Colt was waking up. Only one of us could go back because we had Dylan with us. So, I went back and at first Colt was very disoriented almost drunk looking, his eyes were very glassy and he was inconsolable. He didn't know what he wanted, nor did I. It took about 15 minutes for him to get back to normal. The longest 15 minutes ever for me.  Then we headed home. He slept the whole way home. Once we got home he played with D for a little bit, and then he took a long nap and when he woke up he was a little crabby for a few hours then he was fine. In the past couple of days we have seen a much happier Colt!! You can tell he feels better, and he can HEAR!! When I talk to him he answers me and looks at me!! YAY!! Everything happened so quickly on Thursday I didn't take one single picture.  Here he is riding the carousal with his Mamaw this weekend.  He loved it!

He was waving and so happy! He got so excited when we talked about him riding it! He actually shakes his head yes when he wants something or I ask him a question. It is precious! Dylan didn't do this, he always said no to everything!

We also went to the children's museum this weekend with some friends.  They boys had a blast this was the first time we have been since Colt started walking really good.  So he got to play with Dylan, and not just watch from the stroller!

He could have played there for days!

They have a new exhibit about Egypt that was really cool.  They had a mummy on display, her name is Annie.  She was so tiny.  One of the workers told us that Annie The Mummy moves....that is just plain creepy.  Then they had this big camel...it was super cool!

Halloween Night

Trying to get two boys to stand still is impossible, esp if i am holding the camera!

Our new neighborhood has a big party every year for halloween.  The have a big spread of food, and have a costume contest, and then they have hayrides to take everyone trick or treating.  You would get too tired walking.  This is mainly younger kids at first all the kids go, then all the kids over about 10 go home and get  their four wheelers or their souped up golf carts, and ride the streets till whenever.  They have so  much fun!

Robin ready to go and  not wanting to look at the camera!

Batman

Batman & Bobofet

I didnt take many pictures at the party.  I was busy talking and watching the kids play!

Batman, Robin & Bobofet

The kids had a blast!  We trick or treated for a while then we went back to our house and handed out some candy.  The kids loved that too!  Then we watched the Rangers!!

Dylan & Colt's Halloween Party at School

Halloween was so much fun this year.  The boys had their school parties on Friday.  They get to go around the school and trick or treat to the different classrooms, they loved it!  This year Dylan picked what he and Colt were going to be....a.big.surprise.....Batman and Robin.  He told me because Robin is Batman's best friend, and Colt is my best friend!  How could I say no to that!!  I had a hard time finding a robin costume the right size, and I still had to do quite a bit of alterting after it came.   When I first got Colt's costume he hated and wouldnt let me come near him with it, but once I cut the elastic off from the ankles and wrists he was much happier with me and the costume!

Dylan's FIRST Field Trip

Dylan's class went to The Pumpkin Patch for their first Field Trip.  He was so excited.  I think he was more excited about getting to ride the bus than anything!  They were all so good!  I got off work so I could go with them!

My Handsome Boy!

They got to do the jump houses and hay maze and more jump houses then we tooka  little break, and they all loved this glider!  It was so hot that day!

Dylan was giving up his seat so someone else could ride

Then we took a lunch break, all the kids had brought their lunch.

They all had so much fun, and are looking forward to the next trip!

Dylan's FIRST report card!

Dylan got his first report card a week or so ago.  He got all E's....Exceptional!!!  His teacher, Ms Morgan, wrote a note that he is an exceptional student and a good listener and hard worker!  This makes me SO PROUD!!!

Another busy weekend....

Our weekend started early with The Sugarland Concert...it was INCREDIBLE!  Jennifer Nettles is AMAZING!!!  We had a great time with good friends!  We only managed to take one picture of the girls, sorry guys!  I can't wait to see them in concert again!

Then, Saturday morning Colt and I got up bright and early, well actually it was still very dark and headed over to Jan's and participated in their neighborhood garage sale.  We managed to get rid of a ton of baby things that were cluttering up the house!  Colt was such a good boy he played so hard all morning.  Daddy and Dylan had a tball game and then came over to finish helping us with the sale.  After a quick nap, we headed to our first birthday party of the weekend.  We met some really nice new friends and neighbors!  I forgot my phone and my camera, so there are no pictures.  But Dylan had a blast swimming and play with his buddies!

Sunday morning was pretty quiet we did some work around the house and got ready for our next Birthday Party, another swim party, but this one was indoors at Keller Pointe.  Dylan had so much fun playing in the water, he LOVED the slide.

It was awesome! Happy 4th Birthday Kaden!  Daddy and Colt stayed home to watch the Rangers and Cowboys and were disappointed by both :(

On Monday the boys school was closed for Columbus Day, so I took a vacation day and we got to play all day!  We had so much fun!  We went to the pumpkin patch in Argyle.  They have a train ride that Dylan loves.  Colt wasn't too sure about it at first but then he really enjoyed it.

Colt wasn't too sure about all the pumpkins either.  He was like why are there pumpkins every where.  It was cute!!

The boys had a great time they have a hay maze, a couple different bounce houses, and lots of stuff for the kids to do.  They even had a miniature haunted house, D loved it!!  He can't wait to go back with Daddy!  I hope ya'll had a good weekend too!

September Happenings.....

We have been really busy this month, I haven't had much time to blog, so here is a little catch up post, get ready its a long one.  Colt has been really grumpy the past couple of weeks, not sleeping well, not eating well, whining a lot, and just not being his usual happy self.  Scott and I both thought this was due to the  4 molars he has been cutting, he now has 12 teeth!  We were wrong, last Friday night after dinner I saw some drainage coming out of Colt's right ear.  After a visit to the after hours clinic and two big painful antibiotic shots, one in each leg, we found he had double ear infections and a possible ear drum rupture.  He slept soundly on the way home, and all night....finally.  I felt horrible that I didn't realize earlier that it was his ears!  After visiting with our pediatrician, 3 days later for Colt's 15 month check-up he was 26.5 lbs and 33 inches, he said his ears were much better, but we had to get 4 immunization shots,  Colt remembered the painful shots he had received just days before and he was NOT happy!!  Here he is at the after hours clinic waiting on the doctor.

The next day Scott and I did the Jailbreak run, a 5k obstacle course and run with few of our friends.  It was tough but lots of fun!  We got really dirty, there was lots and lots of mud!  Here are a few picture from after the race.

The next weekend we went to the State Fair of Texas

The weather could not have been better.  It was pretty cool, and very cloudy when we first got there probably low 60s but it warmed up nicely after about noon.  We had a blast!  Dylan rode his first roller coaster.  He loved it!  This is his description to Scott "after we went down the hill it curved and went SUPER DUPER DUPER FAST"!  I rode with him and it did go pretty dang fast!!

He also rode a Monster Truck ride with Scott that he loved.

Then he did a fun house by himself which he absolutely loved.  It was a maze of glass doors. Then after he figured out the maze he went up a "ladder" and down a slide that was probably 25 feet high!  He was smiling ear to ear when he got done!

Colt did go to the fair with us, this is the only picture I could get of him, he was too busy looking around for me to get a picture!!

Poor Colt cried and screamed when D was on the rides because he wanted to do it too! He thinks he can do everything Dylan can do!

Colt thinks he is so BIG now, he has been riding the gator with Dylan.  Dylan is so sweet and takes such good care of him, he made Colt a seat belt out of a bungee cord, and he will not let Colt ride without it!!

We have also been doing lots of t-ball!!  Dylan is still loving it!  Here is Colt trying to get out on the field with Dylan!

Hopefully October will slow down a bit and I can get some more posts done!  But seeing how we are a week in already and every night we have something planned I don't think its going to slow down until after Christmas!
