So here it is, Clara's new hair-cut. I called a girl that I trust here in Charleston to "fix" the scalped head. Yo, the back ended up being worse than we thought, so Clara now has a REALLY short bob. Tomorrow is her first day of school. Her birthday is in 2 weeks. Great timing, kids! Lots of picture taking opportunities coming up. I think I'm more traumatized than either of them.

Play Date
Well, it's happened. Kimball managed to help Clara cut her own hair. "Well, she was trying to do it herself, so I had to help her!" said Kimball after getting caught. Dallin, the wonderful tattle-tale, saved the rest of Clara's hair. So, Clara's once perfect A-line has a new step, and her chopped off pony tail makes for some interesting bangs. Angela, I'm so sad that your darling cut lasted for only a couple of weeks. I know this happens to nearly every mother, but does anyone have suggestions for a punishment? My friend Chris was here, so I didn't beat Kimball, nor did I cry for too long. But gosh, am I MAD! The phrase, "it will grow" only makes me madder. We've been waiting for it to grow since December when the hairstylist cut the front too short. Man alive! Can't my red-head ever have LOCKS?

Palmetto Bugs

I sit at this desk with fear in my fingers. I just saw a cocroach in Joel's desk drawyer. Now, at UCLA, if a tenant had cocroaches, that was a sure sign that they were filthy, or (in the Young's case) they had filthy neighbors. Here in SC, there are "Palmetto Bugs" in every garage, every attic, every house. It's the nature of extremely humid climates. Well, this particular cocroach got away. It's probably climbing inside the walls of the drawyer space. I am freaking out. Last year we saw maybe 5 the whole Summer. This year seems like a lot more. I promise...I am very clean, but this makes me want to clear out everything of my closets, drawyers, storage closets. YUCK! Anyone want to come visit? I'd suggest the Fall or Spring...less heat and fewer bugs!

I was so thrilled to see some old friends during my last trip to California. What a difference a year makes! I visited the UCLA ward and recognized probably 1/3 of the people. We miss the luxury of having best friends living upstairs, across the way, and down the hall (Corbridges, Olsens, Cardalls, Youngs, Pooles, Wettengels, and all those who lived close by). I even miss our neighborhood garbage diving Grandparents. Well, maybe not. What a unique and amazing experience. Live it up, guys! Thanks for the memories.
I wanna be a part of it, New York, New York!
Joel and I took a fun trip to New York. We had perfect weather, perfect dining, perfect company, and perfect fun! Here are a few pictures.
A NY skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge, yummy desserts, and rice pudding flavors from Rice to Riches.
Although we spent most of our time eating amazing food, we managed to squeeze in the rest of Manhattan.

Michal Negrin, Vera Bradley, and Wicked
3 of my favorite things...
Check out our cool earrings!
I'm in love with the jewelry from Michal Negrin For those of you who don't know Michal Negrin or her beautiful jewelry, check her earrings out here. I visited one of her retailers in New York, and I could literally buy EVERYTHING. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her stuff. I just can't resist! Thanks Paul and Shelley, for introducing me.
Check out our cute bags!
Carolina Girls is a new favorite store. It's where I buy VERA BRADLEY bags. Check out her cute purses. Vera Bradley Once again, I love her stuff! Everyone who is anyone has a Vera Bradley back in Charleston.
Good times on Broadway!
And, 3rd, Wicked. Wicked I could die! What a fun show. Joel and I saw it in New York, and loved it. We are so enjoying the album. I highly recommend it!"Leonardo and Raphael" or "Kim and Claire"

Well, my friends, the pet search is over. We saved these guys from a "ride" in the swirling porcelain bowl. Uncle Michael bought the turtles in New York and, after completing his internship, left them for Grandpa Paul. Lucky us! We brought them home in little ziplocks to Kimball and Clara. We're still trying to decide on names. Kimball thinks they should be named after TMNT and Clara, against Dad's wishes, thinks they should be named after herself and Kimball. We'll see. For now, wish us luck against salmonella, and other yucky diseases!
