More swimming

On Monday we took Kaylie and Kalie to the neighborhood pool to practice their swimming skills. This time things went rather smoothly and the girls had a blast. I have to say we have been swimming a heck of a lot more this year than the last few combined. Also, if you are keeping an eye out on her bathing suits...yes this is new. Got it for 5 dollars at Toys R Us. How could I pass that up?!?

Nap time nightmare

The same day she decided to put herself in the bouncer she refused to take a nap. We are slowly trying to move away from naps but I make her have "rest" time on the days she doesn't want to sleep. I should have known I needed to check on her when I heard her yell she had found Mickey and Pluto. Since it was time to go to My Gym I went to get her and this was what I found. I know I should have yelled and kept her from going anywhere but I was in such shock all I could do was laugh and take the picture. We addressed it later and it has not happened again. I think she hated having to clean it up which helped. After looking again at the picture I realized she has her baby in the drawer with her. Silly girl.

Baby bouncer

We had let a friend borrow Kaylie's old bouncer and she just recently returned it. She was having so much fun putting her dolls in it we decided to let her play in it for awhile. The other day she could not find her baby doll and after looking she gave up...or so I thought. I soon realized that she was talking to herself about being a baby. I looked up and this is what I found. She is pretend sleeping in the second picture. The funny thing...she is only 4 pounds above the weight requirement for this toy.

Cousins

A few weeks ago we were blessed with a visit from Kaylie's Nonna and cousin Elias. Kaylie and Elias had so much fun playing together. The love each other so much and really watch out for each other. Since we had decided to by a slightly bigger play pool and needed to try it out we went ahead and set it up for them. I can not tell you how many times they jumped in and out as well as swam under water from side to side. Definitely worth the purchase.

Galveston Part 3

I am not sure why but for some reason I took very little pictures Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Monday two of the families had to leave to go home and since Kaylie was depressed that her best friend Garrett had to leave we took it easy and relaxed. We decided to have lunch out and sight see some of the parts of town we had never been too. We actually went all the way down to the end of the road. I was shocked at what I learned about the location of where we were and how things operated in this part of the world. Definitely a cool thing to see even though to most it wasn't much of anything. Our other objective for this particular afternoon was to get little miss to sleep. With her partner in crime around she refused to lay down and after figuring out how to climb out of her pack in play we realized this was our only chance at getting her to take a nap. She slept for over an hour while we drove around. Made for a nicer afternoon.

Chocolate Goldfish...We would have to say this is her second favorite food next to Cheetos. If we don't have one she wants the other. Say a prayer if we don't have either of them. Unfortunately, we found that out the hard way.

I personally like the chocolate fish hanging out of her mouth.

This is what happens when someone leaves their plate unguarded. I know my mom is cringing at the sight of the birds right now.
Her only nap the entire trip. She feel asleep patting her baby to sleep. She had changed her diaper and wrapped her up in her blankie before passing out herself. So sweet how loving they are to their dollies.
Tuesday July 6th

Dinner at Salt Water Grill. Absolutely delicious. If you look at the plate in front of Jason and look closely you can see he was enjoying a plate filled with chocolate fish. Worth every penny.

After dinner we took out Kaylie's scooter so we could show off her skills. She was so excited to have everyone watching her. I have never seen such a big smile as everyone cheered her on. She loves all the positive praise and attention.

Her cheering section peering over the third floor balcony.

One very proud grandma. Poor thing had a little mishap and broke her arm. She was a trooper and still took everything in stride. We love her very much and hopes she feels better soon.

Wednesday July 7th
Our last full day was spent at the beach enjoying the water. Since I had my camera the few times before I decided not to bring it this time. I would say it was a huge mistake if it wasn't for the weather. What we didn't realize until the next day was that another tropical depression was on it's way in causing the yucky weather we had that day. Thankfully, we were able to play in the water before it got bad. The crazy part was the strength of the waves and the location of where the waves were hitting. The water was almost up to the fence. If you look at previous posts you can see where the fence is in location to the water on a normal none tropical depression day. The next day the water actually passed the fence. I don't know how people do it but after seeing how much rain a tropical depression can bring Jason and I could not stay there for a hurricane.
I was sad I did not have my camera because our last day to play in the water was by far the best. Kaylie did anything and everything. One she was covering her daddy with sand and next she was bear crawling across it trying not to get bull dozed by a wave. The waves were incredibly strong and almost took me out a few times so you have to imagine how she would do. Surprisingly, they did not stop her. Right as daddy rolled into the water calling started rolling right along with him. I am telling you...fearless. She may be scared at first to do something but once some time has passed and she is comfortable their is no stopping her from doing it over, and over, and over, and...you get the point. We had so much fun playing it was hard to say goodbye. We were just glad we were able to leave on a good note. We had planned to go the next morning before we left but couldn't because of the monsoon like weather. This way we did not leave feeling disappointed.
We ended our trip with a family dinner to our family restaurant Rudy and Pacos. Definitely a great way to end a great trip. Thank you so much Jo and Papa for another fabulous vacation. We appreciate it more than you will now.

4th of July in Galveston

Who could think of a better way to celebrate the 4th of July then with your loved ones on the beach. We were loving it. We had a great day playing games, playing at the beach, grilling fajitas, and watching some fireworks...the few we could see. Definitely a great day!

Since we were in Galveston for a week we pretty much brought everything for Kaylie but the kitchen sink. Her main forms of entertainment were her dress up clothes, ponies, and board games.

One of her new games. The dog in the middle will bark how many spaces you move. Works on her counting skills.

The foot picture...May bother some but still had to put it on. My view from my chair. Wanted you to see what I was able to enjoy.

She would go outside and show off her bathing suit/outfit she was wearing by twirling around for everyone to see.

Even though it was our second time to go to the beach on the trip she decided she wasn't going to have anything to do with it. As you can see we did not let her party pooper spirit stop her daddy and I from enjoying the water.

Giving in against her will. Realized she didn't like being left there to sulk alone.

We were able to get her to join in the fun by giving her daddy seashells for her grandma to have. This was our start to a super fun afternoon of playing in the water.

On a side note...the adorable jelly sandals she is seen wearing in this picture are no longer with our family. One of her shoes decided to run away and join the fishes in the ocean and never return. The shoe has been missed!!! Mommy tried hard but ended up shedding a tear over the loss.

Running is always the best way to get her in the water. Once they hit the waves daddy swoops her up and swings her from side to side. This allows her to relax and move forward in her exploration of the ocean.

I just love this picture. I love seeing how small she is against such an amazingly big ocean.

The more confident she was the more gutsier she became. She had no problem running into the water. We had to make sure one of us was always in front of her in case a wave took her out.

Daddy taught her how to jump waves. She had so much fun doing it. After awhile of doing it with someone she told us to let go of her so she could do it on her own. We just made sure to stand behind her as a buffer from the waves.

I love this picture but when I look at it all I can see is hair. So much hair on her head for such a little face. Makes me smile.

The next few pics are of the many faces of wave jumping. I think this one should be the constipated wave jump.

The oh my goodness I am about to lose my pants look.

If I don't look it isn't going to get me pic.

Her KISS pose

I am the champion!!!

She is kick, kick, kicking as Kaylie would say. Practicing her swimming legs in the ocean.

Chilling

First successful time at flying her own Ariel kite. I was impressed with how well she did.

Once we got it this high she began to freak out over how high it was. We had to pull it back quickly to keep her happy.

For dinner daddy grilled everyone up some yummy fajitas. This is the view he had from the bottom deck of the house we were staying at. Behind the house there was a pond with a mommy duck and five babies. We were trying to feed them but the mommy was scared of us and went the other way. She didn't know what she was missing.

Since the ducks weren't cooperating we tried plan B...go to the 3rd floor and feed the seagulls. This was more successful than the ducks but still left a little to be desired in keeping the attention of a 3 year old and 18 month old.

She seems to take everything in to its fullest. I pray she continues to do that through out her life and enjoy this world for the beautiful things it has for us. Happy 4th everyone even if it is a little late.
