Is it raining?

This particular morning we woke up to rain. It rained until noonish and it was definitely well needed rain. Prior to this Kaylie has shown absolutely no interest in wearing rain boots. I have tried to put boots on her before and she refused so I decided I wouldn't push it unless she showed interest. After seeing one of her good friends with boots on she decided she needed it as well. Not only did she want boots but she wanted a jacket as well to go with her umbrella she already had.

Excited that she wanted some and wishing she had wanted them during our major snowfalls we immediately went to the store to buy some. All I have to say is...they need to make rain boots in smaller sizes. My 3 year old did not fit into the smallest size. Everywhere we went the smallest size was huge. Without any luck we left with a promise I would look for some while she was at school. After visiting various stores and no luck I went back and bought her one of the pairs that didn't fit but stayed on well enough to walk. She will definitely be able to wear these for awhile.

Since the rain had stopped she decided she was going to wear her clothes anyway. Even if it never rains again we will get our monies worth because she uses them for dress up.

Hiking

Little miss has a thing for wanting to go on a hike. She started asking when it was in the teens outside and hasn't really stopped. With the weather being nice we decided to surprise her with a "hike" or long walk through the grounds of the Heard museum. All said and done we walked a good 2 miles. We went through two of the trails we had not been on and spent a lot of time walking on a bridge over some marshy water. I am not going to lie...I tried hard to stay positive but the minute I let my mind go I envisioned her and I falling in. The bridge was big enough but I saw one of us tripping over a board and going over the ropes into the yucky water. Thankfully we finished our hike nice and dry. The trails were definitely the perfect length. By the end she was pretty much done. Any longer we would have had to carry her.

Some of the Animal Ambassadors. The deer in front was new and quit scared. The asked everyone to stay quiet until he had a chance to get used to his new surroundings.

Backyard picnic

This is what I walked out to find. I didn't realize it at first but after she asked me over and over how many guests she had attending her party I realized she was doing what Ruby from Max and Ruby had done. I am pretty sure the crayons were meant to be food. If one of her animals didn't sit well she went in and found something to prop them up. After everyone was seated she made them their own personal name card. I think she is going to be a great entertainer.

Pizza Pie

Our first time to make pizza as a family. Other than dealing with the hot stuff she pretty much did it all. She is a pizza making natural. She definitely has her mommy's love for pizza in her. Her favorite part...putting the cheese on and making sure to have a little bit left over for her to eat. The final product looked and tasted quit yummy. Job well done.

Color Me Mine

On one of our days off from school we decided to make a master piece at Color Me Mine. My little Picasso hasn't really cared too much about painting but this time she actually put some effort into it. Thankfully she didn't remember what colors she originally wanted otherwise I would have had blue all over the place. With a quick nod, "no" to the guy taking our colors we magically ended up with a lot of pinks, reds, and yellows. At the end we did have some black ambush our heart but after some mommy touch ups it magically blended in. The hand prints were done after a bribe was thrown in. You can tell this is done often because she painted her own hand and plopped it down.

Feeding Diploma

Ms. Kathy was so sweet to create a certificate for Kaylie's achievements. This is something we will cherish for a long time!!!

School Essembly

At the end of every month Kaylie's school has an assembly where several of the classes come together to perform the songs they have been learning throughout the school year. They do the Pledge of Allegiance, Pledge to the Texas flag, days of the week song, Months of the year, as well as the weather song. They also got to perform several of their different movement songs.

Since parents were welcome to attend I went to see Little Miss perform holding my breath in fear of a complete shut down. Being that she likes to prove me wrong I shouldn't have been surprised at how awesome she did. At first I tried to hide and not let her see me. This didn't last long because I look up and see this finger pointing in my direction with my child yelling, "There she is!" She was so happy to see me. During each song she performed all the movements and sang so long I could hear her over everyone. She was belting it!!!

My favorite part of the entire performance was when she decided it was important enough to stop what she was doing to yell to me that she was tired. I tried to ignore it at first but after the second or third time I acknowledged it and she went right back to singing.

Build a Bear

I can not believe how time flies. Kaylie's dear friend Claire has just turned 3. The two are such good friends. They may not get to see each other all the time but when they do they act like they had never been away. That is the sign of true friends.

This year Claire had her birthday at Build a Bear. We were so excited until the day of her birthday. We ended up having to cancel for yet another major respiratory infection. We figured it wouldn't be nice to share with Claire and the other kids on such a special day so we ended up missing the celebration.

Thankfully, Ms. Way Way wanted to make sure Kaylie got to enjoy the party even if it was a few days later so Monday (Valentine's Day) we met up with them to reenact the party. The girls had so much fun. Kaylie was so excited to make her first bear ever. She was a little frightened to add a heart to the bear and absolutely loved bathing her new friend. We finished up by picking out an outfit for each of the bears and used bows to accessorize her ears. Afterwards we went to the Safari store, road the train and played in the play area before having a lunch of Chick Fil A. All in all it was a great day!!! Happy birthday sweet Claire! We love you!!!

Brown Dog's new friend

Ms. Kathy gave Kaylie a new friend named Dotters. He is just like Brown
Dog but is blake and white polka dots. The two dogs took to each other right from the start.

We have finally finished!!!

We have finally finished. After 3 1/2 years we have officially been dismissed from both of her feeding therapies. We have come a long way with Ms. Kathy and appreciate her more than words could ever say. She and Kaylie have gone through so much together and seeing Kaylie graduate brought tears to both of our eyes. As she presented Kaylie with her certificate of completion both Kathy and I had tears of joy rolling down our face. We both knew how much it took to get to this point. Thank you Ms. Kathy for giving us a life of normalcy. You have definitely made a difference in not only our daughter's life but her mommy and daddy's.

This the second year Kaylie has baked me a cake for my birthday. This time she actually sang the birthday song to me.
