November 30: bizarre beach sight
I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore, but sheep on the rocks at the ocean... it was pretty unexpected!
November 30: bright beach day
Cheery colored beach umbrellas and sunshine helped to make a lovely day at the beach!

November 23: COWS!
A cool and fairly unusual sight-- at least being this close to them is fairly unusual!

November 16: roadside sight
My friend took this picture out the car window on our way home from the women's retreat. For some reason it appeals to me. Just one of those random combination of sights seen on the Senegal roads...

thoughts after the election
No matter who you voted for--or whether you voted at all--it's important to remember that, as President, Barack Obama will have God-given authority to govern us, and that we should view him as a servant of God (Rom. 13:1, 4) to whom we should be subject (Rom. 13:1, 5; 1 Pet. 2:13-14).
- We are to pray for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
- We are to thank God for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
- We are to respect Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7).
- We are to honor Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7; 1 Pet. 2:17).

October 21: on the road again
I loved the sight of this Quaker Oats can driving along! (For you who don't live in this part of the world, our oatmeal comes in tin cans looking remarkably like this vehicle!)

October 19: another sunrise
This was one of my favorite pictures of all. Each sunrise was different, unique, wonderful!

October 17: crab hunter
This sandpiper was looking for his supper! No wonder they dart so fast into their holes!

October 16: transit garden
Yesterday I flew from Dakar to Abidjan(Ivory Coast) , and from Abidjan to Accra,Ghana. Today I'll go by road to the conference center where we'll spend the next five days at a retreat and consultation for people involved in support and care roles for overseas workers.
(and I'm enjoying this garden at the guesthouse!)

October 3: little bird
I caught sight of this little guy while getting clothes off the line this late afternoon... thought he was really cute and liked the way he was framed in the windows of the house behind us!

September 20: sweet feet sleep
Guest photographer Jacob Decker captured this fun shot of a sleeping kitty this morning. Any suggestions for a really clever title??

September 15: neighborhood mosque
This mosque, as seen from our roof, is a regular part of our daily life here in Senegal, though we hear it more often than we see it. The "call to prayer" is broadcast from here five times per day, beginning around 5 a.m.

September 5: after the rain
We have had so much rain in recent days. I've been feeling soggy, dreary, wilting from the humidity. This bit of beauty brought joy to my heart this morning!

August 10: liberia evening sky
My last hours in Liberia, as we drove away from the airport back into town. I needed to wait 12 hours for my next flight... but was touched by the poignant beauty of this place as we drove.

August 5: fufu and soup
My first and favorite meal in Liberia! Prepared by my friend Mary, served with love, eaten with dear friends-- a wonderful meal!
August 5: school path
This is the path that Danny, Joey and Jacob used to walk on their way to ELWA Academy, when we lived in Liberia. It was very cool living in a rain-forest!
August 5: liberia chicken coop
I enjoyed this sight my first morning in Liberia. This crab soon became breakfast for the chickens!

following mom
We've been away for a few days at a conference... I'll catch up as soon asI can! But this was the first picture I took, and it turned out so fun! This was on the road just outside our rooms... not in a zoo... crazy!!

July 19: sunset sky at cap ouest
The sky at sunset tonight was like a painting, maybe the best sunset we've ever seen here!
