So I have been tagged several times on Facebook to do this. But I really like writing on my blog better than facebook. So here is my list of 25 things about myself.
1. I am definitely a white chocolate kind of girl.
2. I am worried about finding 25 interesting things about myself.
3. I have had LASIK surgery and now test 20/15 in both eyes. It was one of the best decisions I have made. You can't believe the freedom I feel now that I am not dependent on corrective lenses.
4. I sometimes write poetry, mainly when I am depressed, but not always. I don't share it with many people though.
5. I worked night shift for 2 years and could sleep beautifully during the day with my blinds wide open and the sun beaming in. Now I can't even take a nap. I think that is sad.
6. I think that if my family had been more outdoorsy I would be one of those people that loves going backpacking for weeks at a time. As it is, I am learning to love car camping.
7. I went camping by myself last summer for a week. I took my camera and had a really great time. When I am stressed with school I think back on that time to relax. It was an amazing experience.
8. I go through different levels of shyness. I think I was shy as a kid, then not so much as a teenager and young adult. I have been more shy lately and I find it annoying.
9. My Grandpa is one of the people I admire most in this world. He is getting old and it is hard to see that process.
10. Happiness is something that I cherish most in this world. I really appreciate those peaceful joyful moments.
11. I get a lot of enjoyment out of little things. Like my friend sent me a Reindeer that poops out jelly beans for Christmas. I could be entertained by it for hours.
12. I have some really great friends and family that have gotten me through some hard times. I don't think they will ever appreciate how much they have done for me.
13. I am becoming more superstitious the longer I am a nurse. Yes I believe the whole full moon, pressure change stuff. I also think if you say the word quiet when describing how the day is going at work, it will drastically change things for your detriment.
14. I have always wanted to have some artistic/musical talent of some kind. Photography is my first real attempt at it.
15. When I was 3 I once held my poop in for 3 weeks because I was afraid of the toilet. I was apparently given a ton of laxatives and still held it in. That is just how stubborn I am.
16. When my mom is asked to describe me, for better or worse, she uses the words strong willed. That pretty much sums up my personality. I think it is an asset not a disadvantage though. Despite what other people think sometimes. =)
17. When I read a book I get totally absorbed in it. I don't usually sleep until I am finished reading it. For this reason I don't read for pleasure as often as I would like to.
18. I have once ridden an Ostrich. It was pretty fun and entertaining. They are fast! Especially when they want whatever is on their back, off!
19. I used to collect Pez dispensers. I don't anymore, but I think there is still a box of them at my parents house.
20. Vanilla is my favorite scent, I love the body spray, air freshener, etc.
21. I did ballet for about 7 years as a child. I accomplished my goal of making it up on Point (the toe shoes), and then quit. Don't ask me to show you anything now though, it has been far too long!
22. I can clap with one hand. Only my right hand though, can't do it with my left.
23. I never make my bed, except when I do laundry. It is a bad habit that my mom was never able to break. It is also something I am terrible at. Don't ask me how I graduated nursing school unable to make a bed.
24. I have to have white noise when I sleep. If is a fan, a heater, whatever, I need to have it. It puts me right to sleep.
25. I have this picture in my mind right now that I want to capture. It is of a birthday cake, with the candles lit, and dim lighting elsewhere. I have no cake decorating abilities though, so I don't know that I am going to be able to get the picture.

Ferry Ride
I brought my little point and shoot camera with me on my ferry ride this week. I got out early from clinicals and was able to watch the sunset from the Ferry. With a little help from photoshop, here are the pictures that I got:

Looking back from the ferry. I really like this one!

Awkward Moments
Life can be full of awkward moments. I sometimes think they happen more often for me than for other people. The good thing is that I have learned to laugh at myself in these moments instead of getting too embarrassed. I think I first started to learn this from my old roommate Hannah who could get into the most amazingly awkward situations and end up just laughing at herself. I think it was great. So here are a couple of my awkward moments this week:
1.) Warning, this one involves bodily fluids! So at clinical this week I discovered that it is not just at the hospital that you can get slimed with stuff. I was doing a pap smear on a patient, and she had a lot of cervical mucous. I was having a hard time finding the cervix so I let my preceptor take over. I was helping her get all of her lab stuff together, and she went to throw the speculum away. On the way over she dripped a lot of that abundant cervical mucous from the speculum right on my pants. It was enough to drip down to my shoe. She noticed it, apologized, and there I was with cervical mucous on my pants. I didn't want to react because I didn't want the patient to know, it would be too embarrassing for her. So I finished the exam and waited for the appointment to be over so I could go get cleaned up. My preceptor proceeded to talk to the patient for another 25 minutes. I was standing there the whole time thinking about what was on my pants, and really didn't get much else from the conversation. I have been slimed with grosser stuff, but I am usually wearing scrubs. So, this was my first awkward moment.
2.) I went to an Art museum with a friend. It was fun and I saw some cool things. Awkward moment came on the way out of the museum. I have yet to master the art of revolving doors. For some reason when I am with other people I always want to enter the doors with them. It usually ends up being awkward because they really were designed for one person. But I still compulsively do it. So for some reason I jumped into the revolving doors with my friend. Well, I would have made it, if I weren't wearing a backpack... So the backpack got stuck in the doors. It was a bit crowded so there were a lot of people trying to get through the doors and suddenly they weren't moving. I am trying to push the doors back to get loose, and everyone else is trying to push them forward. We had to stop everyone and reverse the doors in order for me to get loose. So awkward and amazingly funny as well. Ahhh... this is my life...

Photoshop Fun
So, I really needed a mental break from all of the stresses of life. So I decided to try out some new stuff in Photoshop. I learned how to do it from a photo blog that I read. Here are my attempts at altering the colors in the pictures. I have the before and after pictures here:

Something other than school?
Last night I dusted off my old 4 megapixel point and shoot camera. It has been a long time since I have used it and it is so small! It was fun to use it again, and convenient to carry around so I guess they are not all bad. I definitely didn't take as many pictures as I would have with my SLR though, because it was simply not as fun. I went with a friend to his company Christmas party. He works for Amazon, and they are too busy to have their party in December, so I got to enjoy it now. It was held at the Museum of Flight, which I had never been to. The whole time I imagined my brother who is an Aeronautical Engineer drooling over the planes and the flight simulator there. But he probably deals with cooler stuff at work I just don't know about. Anyway, here are the parts of the night that I documented:
I remembered that it is much easier to take pictures of yourself with a point and shoot as opposed to my SLR. It is just a matter of size... So here we are about to leave and having fun with our camera's.

We went on one of the flight simulators. It was a 3D movie, the first one I have seen. I must say that I haven't really been missing much... But other than the cheesy scenario, bad graphics, and the simulator smelling like a cockpit, it was okay... =)

If you can see it, there is a sign that shows that you are not supposed to sit on this. Was I ever tempted?

We got to sit inside one of the cool planes. Don't ask me to name it though!

And then I had fun in photoshop...

These are hershey's bars falling from the sky. If only...

Doesn't this look like something out of a creepy zombie movie where they don't have eyes?

Using our free drink coupons...

And thus ends the night with my little camera. Not bad, but I definitely missed my DSLR.
