Another week at our house....

Another week is over and we are definitely headed for a change in the season. We had changes and of course plenty of events this week at our house. My parents' dog "Bootsie" died this week which ends an era at thier house; all of the family pets that have been a fixture at the house and survived Stephen and I growing up are now gone. It was last year about this time that "my" childhood dog "Ty" died, so it has been a change only having Bootsie and so now this will be even more of a change with no dog at all at my parents' house. It will also be a change for the grandkids, as they have come to know these faithful companions that have been around for so long. It is funny how animals affect people young and old alike and how much of an attachment you can develop for them.
As Bootsie got older he got like all things that age, a little slower, a little deafer, a little blinder.... My Mom always made sure that he had plenty of food and water and always had a treat (a dinner table scrap) at night. This became a favorite trip of Duncan's to make- to go feed Bootsie. I don't know how much help he was, but he insisted on feeding Bootsie with Grandma on a regular basis. If nothing else, I hope he learned some compassion and patience. He was very cute with Bootsie, always walking up to him slowly(because he couldn't hear) and talking in a quiet little voice, as if Bootsie could hear him and him trying to be so gentle and pet him and talk to him so patiently and cute; "hello Bootsie, are you okay today?" was the usual one-way conversation, on an almost daily basis. I hope he remembers these things when Richard and I get old.....
Any way, that is the change around our house, but here are some pictures from our week. It was Homecoming Week at the High School, another load of pumpkins, Duncan thought the white ones in the cab of the truck were pretty cool, his cousins David and Logan came to pick out their pumpkins, I canned peaches and made jam, with the help of my "best helper" who was finally feeling better by Sunday after having the stomach flu for a few days, and there are just some random pictures of Duncan playing in the sandbox and driving the gator. Hope you all had a good week!!

Keeping up...

Here are a few pictures of our week!!

These are Richard's sister's kids that live in Texas. They were staying at Richard's parents for the week and came to play at our house for a few hours.

Everyone loves the Gator....

Next, we went to South Summit (Kamas) to the Football games on Thursday. This is a picture of my Grandparents' home in Woodland. We dropped my Mom off to visit and we went to the High School for a few hours. I always enjoy going there to visit with my Grandpa. When we came back from the ball game to visit, Duncan was very helpful and gave Grandpa a massage with one of those battery powered massagers that look like a bug or something with 4 legs on them... any way of course my camera was in the car but I got a picture with Mom's, so I need to steal her camera and upload it. Duncan always likes to see Grandpa Bisel- they have some pretty good conversations.

It is almost October, so we all know what that means.... PUMPKINS! We capped off the week by picking up our first load of pumpkins Saturday out in Lakeshore and we will deliver them Monday morning. The pumpkins are huge this year! The field where the pumkins are has a feed yard full of buffalo right next to it so... I took a couple pictures and let Duncan look at them from a far-kind of. Buffalo are some of the meanest things you will find so you have to be careful. He was not quite sure about getting his picture by the fence after I explained the whole buffalo thing but I think that the buffalo were more scared of him!

That was our week! Hope you had a good one as well.

"Blue Day"

Today was "blue" day at school. Duncan wore his "Boozer" jersey. He wanted me to take a picture of him in his jersey, by the stairs- that must be the official picture place? However, he wanted to go to a Jazz game after he got home from school. He said to me, "Mom, we wear our Jazz shirt when we go to ball games huh?" "Yes, bud you do." " Then when are we going to the Jazz game Mom? Let's go get in the car and go to the Jazz game"

I don't think he likes them at all.... He is a handsome little devil- if I do say so myself.

Mt. Nebo Hike

We had a busy weekend at our house. Friday/Saturday Richard took the YM/Scouts to hike Mt. Nebo. They left at midnight on Friday and hiked all night to watch the sun come up on top of Nebo Saturday morning. It was a very long, tiring hike, but well worth the reward. The boys were tired, and the leaders were exhausted, but it was a good trip for everyone that went. Here are some pictures.....

Did I mention we are busy...

A typical week at our house starts out with Football films on Sunday night, then practice all week each night until Thursday and then a game Thursday and Friday night both. Richard is on the coaching staff... Somewhere in the week we find time for Richard to play YM President on Tuesday night, Donni to teach 10 fiddle students in between on Tuesday during the day and Cub Scouts on Thursdays before the games start. Throw a horse ride, four wheeling, pre-school, and of course play time in and we tend to stay busy..... Here are a few pics -

Duncan's first day of Pre-school

It is hard to believe that my little man is old enough to go to pre-school. He started last week.
He thinks he is pretty big riding his bike to and from school- Mom is not far behind however.....
His pre-school is just up the street from our house and so far he loves "school".

Labor Day Weekend

It poured Sunday night, this is the morning after

All the cousins loved Duncan's gator

Duncan and his Dad both enjoyed the water fall-

This motorcycle is Duncan's favorite thing to ride- Even more than the four wheelers!!
