St. Patty's in Atlanta

Our friend Dave was down in the South for a business meeting and we were lucky enough to meet up with him in Atlanta on St. Patrick's Day.  He met us for a session at the temple.  In the picture above I was really trying to catch a picture of the wedding party while being a little discrete...we loved the Scottish kilts.

Our next stop was at Fat Matt's Rib Shack for some Southern Barbecue.  I forgot to take pictures...so I borrowed a couple from the internet so you would get an idea for the ambiance.  Seth and I shared a rack of ribs and a chopped pork sandwich with some stew and sweet potato pie on the side.  It was delicious but our favorite part was the yummy lemonade.

The place was packed.  After we sat down and were waiting for our order a bus pulled up with a group of High School students...glad we had good timing.  As we left the line was out the door as well.

Our next stop was Stone Mountain.  We figured Dave needed to see the Mount Rushmore of the South.

Our final stop was at the Dekalb Farmers Market.  This place was insane.  It is the size of a warehouse and they have everything you could imagine.  There was a huge sign as we walked in that said photography was not permitted...so I borrowed the picture below from the internet as well.  The market had fresh seafood (aka fresh means still swimming in a tank), an amazing assortment of cheese, fresh breads, pastries, fruit, etc.

We bought a few items four our ride home.  Seth and I shared a fruit tart and and an almond horseshoe shaped pastry...both were scrumptious.

Thanks Dave for making the trip down to our neck of the woods!

Botanical Garden

The weather out our way has been beautiful recently.  We have been enjoying lots of scooter rides, afternoon walks and even a dip in our pool.  A couple of weeks ago we headed to the South Carolina Botanical Gardens.  When my parents were here in February I realized the Gardens were much larger than I originally thought...so Seth and I headed back to do a little more exploring.  The picture above was taken in a section of the garden that reminds us very much of the movie Alice in Wonderland.  It was simply enchanting.

As a side note...I love side braids...and I love The Hunger Games, if you haven't read the books you must, then you can head out to see the amazing movie.  We were able to catch it on our Friday night date and it was the perfect ending to the week.

Stephanie

I have written and rewritten this post and still can't find the words I would like to use to express myself.  Ten years ago today my cousin, my friend, my gym buddy and fellow adventure seeker passed away due to injuries sustained in a sledding accident.  It was the first time someone close to my age had passed away.  In the days and weeks that followed Stephanie's passing I relied heavily on my testimony of the plan of salvation.  It was a time where I felt the Holy Ghost very strongly in my life.  I learned what "comforter" meant and I learned all about the tender mercies of the Lord.  Ten years after Stephanie's passing, I often find myself thinking of her (when I eat crazy bread, take a road trip, go to a yoga class, make a dump cake, etc.) and I picture her laughing at all the situations I get myself into.   I miss you Stephanie!

Dance

A couple of weeks ago Seth and I went to our first dance together.  The dance was held at the Elementary school I work at.  I was required to attend and Seth was sweet enough to come along and keep me company.  We had a blast dancing the night away.  We did a little swing, slow dancing and one of us did the wobble.

G-O Tigers!

Last week we checked another item off our South Carolina bucket list.  We attended a Clemson basketball game in the Little John Coliseum...and we met the Clemson Tiger.  Clemson pulled off a victory and beat Virginia Tech by two points.

Futures

Seth and I both have birthdays in February... it is true, we are one year older...and hopefully one year wiser.  We still haven't decided what birthday presents to give to each other...at this point we have been talking about "futures."  Since we are moving in a couple of months it just seems more practical to wait until we are in our new place.  We didn't wait for a future cake...I attempted to make an Oreo cake, we wish we could have shared a piece with each of you.
