Commander and Chief?

With all due respect to the individuals involved, I find myself sincerely asking if these people are the best that America has to offer?

Is any one of these candidates vying for the presidency the wisest in our land? Does any one of them possess the best and brightest ideas, concern, and leadership that can help make this a better country and world? Will any one of these individuals stand up for the widow, the orphan and those who cannot stand up for themselves? Or are these candidates the suits who are running to line the pockets of the wealthy and powerful.

Will our next President be the type of person who stands up for what is right no matter who stands with them...or threatens to drop them financially for opposing injustice?

When you think about it, the best "candidate" for the job is probably the kind of person who would never want the position. The leaders that I am most drawn to and find myself following are the ones who put others above themselves. They are humble with impeccable integrity. They don't base their decisions on public opinion, national polls or how it will effect them "politically". Here lies the reason why I keep looking for someone to get behind. I don't want just another suit who is more concerned about their ego than the people they serve.

Please tell me there is someone out there who is hiding behind door #3 who is truly full of greatness.

Overheard

"Folgers isn't a college...unless you count it as an instiution of crappy coffee."

Simply brilliant.

D-Day

Delivery Day is quietly knocking on our door, whispering is a slow muffled voice, "It's time."

Within the next couple of days, our daughter Jayden Abigail will take her first gasps of this world. There are a lot of emotions floating around me right now. I can't wait to meet this little one face to face. I'm so excited that I'm about to pop. I can't wait to hold her in my arms and tell her how much I love her.

On the other hand, the uncertainty of the moment still makes my feet go cold and my stomach churn a little more than I would like to admit. Watching my wife endure the curse of child bearing is flat out hard to handle.

I also worry about the kind of world my little one will come to know as reality. Will she see an American society that will continue to rot away at its core? Will she be able to withstand the many temptations and destractions that this world has to offer? Will she grow up to be a woman who loves the Lord more than she loves her very life?

A father can only hope...and pray.

Amen

Last night while I was saying prayers with my daughter Adeline, she prayed, "God thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Jayden, Mommy, Daddy and Jayden (we all needed the prayers twice). And then she closed the prayers by saying, "And thank you we don't say 'boobies' except for when we are in the bathtub."

Amen, sister. Amen.
