Akrophobie

By "acrophobia" is meant a height or depth. It belongs as a so-called "anxiety disorder" to the circle of phobias. The name derives from the Greek word ἄκρος "ákros", which means summit, peak or altitude. The opposite of Höhenangst is dizziness. Unter Akrophobie wird eine Höhenangst oder Tiefenangst verstanden. Sie gehört als eine sogenannte "Angststörung" zum Formenkreis der Phobien. Die Bezeichnung leitet sich vom griechischen Wort ἄκρος „ákros“ her, das Gipfel, Spitze oder Höhe bedeutet. Das Gegenteil von Höhenangst ist Schwindelfreiheit.
