Given how successful yesterday's to do list was in motivating me, I'm going to do something similar. However, given that it is Saturday, I'm doing it as a 'what I wish I had more time for', with a few reality requests included. In other words, a list of hobbies and time frittering.

remaining from yesterday
  1. sort out all the books on the kitchen counter
  2. order music for eldest, youngest, and me
extra
  1. what else on the bookshelf in the front hall can be catalogued?
  2. clear All The Tabs from firefox.[progress has been made]
  3. pick the next crochet project (I have one. I just don't think I have suitable yarn. This sucks, because I have Too Much Yarn). black and purple baby blanket. Or two, given the amount of black and purple. Not sure exactly what yet, but aiming to do 25 ~20cm blocks.
  4. finish packing up semi-frogged crochet project, or work out what to do with it.
  5. start the next crochet project [this is kind of a cheat, now that the project has been selected, as there is already a square done]
  6. put up stalled project on the craft board in the lounge, so I can have it there to think about border. Maybe read some of the crochet borders book [alt: do an extra row of edging I thought was done]
  7. finish at least one of Wilde Stories; Yellow Blue Tibia; or Am I Black Enough for You (or all three). review.
  8. play more Temple Run.
  9. remove lots of 2013 emails out of inbox, into archive folder for sorting. [inboxes now at 1260 and 255 items. home email still needs love]
  10. sort 2008 email archive into 'personal' and 'work' several varieties of work. Also did some 2013, but not the previous item!
I will note here - with the assistance of the wonderful [personal profile] samvara, the passport applications are now as far progressed as they can be before Monday, when I have to ring the post office and make an appointment. This is pleasing. Especially as it isn't yet in the 'urgent, argh, argh, argh' category, as eldest isn't going overseas until April.

And I've just gone and written my first 750 words for the year, in which I've worked out what I want to do in terms of quilts/blankets for the babies that I know about, which means that I'm going to pull out stash for quilting as well. In addition, I would like to spend some time on the following:
  1. watch the next episode of Downton Abbey
  2. cast on the fronts for the jacket I'm knitting youngest
  3. look at the entrelac book
  4. clear yarn back out of the lounge
  5. pull three large pieces of quilt fabric (to be the focal colours for the three quilts), and maybe some small ones as well
  6. pick a block to be common to each - maybe cut? Maybe sew?
  7. see if there are enough simple 16 patch blocks in the 1001 quilt blocks book to tempt me (looking for 73)

I have several days worth of half-complete to do lists lying around on the counter. Because I can't face trying to prioritise when looking at them, I'm going to pull a few items off, write them here, and then try and get them done in the next 2 hours (ie before 5pm). This is going to require leaving the house, which I'll aim to do at 4pm.
  1. get parcel ready for posting (needs sticky tape and putting in the basket with my wallet, I think)
  2. fill in and get ready to post three cards (only have adress for one) This is now 4 - two with addresses. I need to get it together to get some photos printed before I send them off.
  3. start filling out the passport paperwork for eldest and middlest still needs finishing. Also, youngest
  4. find the other paper work needed for eldest
  5. sort out paying credit card
  6. sort out all the books on the kitchen counter
  7. deal with the shopping bag on the counter both emptied and repaired. Still things on the counter from it, but I'm calling this a win.
  8. make bed, 5 minutes tidying bedroom which makes for a 'completely' tidy room!
  9. put load of washing on
  10. (extra) hang wash out when it is done
  11. (extra) order music for eldest (and youngest????). Also, for me.
  12. (extra) argh. get passport photos and an application form for youngest
  13. (extra) get passport photos endorsed.
and in the shopping expedition
  • post parcel
  • buy golden syrup
  • get money out
  • see whether the allergist is open [argh. oops, forgot they are closed on fridays]
  • (buy self first day covers/coins?)
Already done today:
  • called the water corp about problems with the water meter - job is registered, will be dealt with.
  • taken kids swimming
  • (failed to go cycling, but still feel good, although just lazy. Did however sleep until 9:30am, so I'm figuring I needed it)

Rather than one relatively big thing today, I'm going to try and whittle down my list of tasks that in theory require 15 minutes or less:
  • clean drop sheet that is currently on laundry floor [this came in to the yak shaving category, as bricks needed sweeping, and Stuff needed sorting before I had a large enough space to lay it out to scrub. And now it is taking up a full half of the wash line, such that I'm going to have to plan washing carefully. Also, will need rewaterproofing when it has had enough time in the sun to both dry and kill all the mould.]
  • Deal with contents of plastic box in laundry
  • Wash the last of the tiv costumes in laundry [in progress]
  • Set up Flickr account so that I can put costume photos up
  • Sort some old work email [ @ 8:16, inbox at 1529].
  • Catalogue some of the new books
  • Get all of the new CDs in to itunes on the desktop
  • Sync idevices to get new music on them (after setting up some playlists)
  • Get the two new sims in to phones, get bagusaii to take them for test run
  • Clear kitchen counter (even if it is on to the table - no point having both areas non-functional) [mostly went away, some on the table]
  • Ditto hall benche, and the rest of the bedroom floor
  • Find ten things on kitchen table that need attention
  • Cook polenta, now that I have corn meal (even if it is very pale, I'm sure it will taste the same, and I'm not convinced that there is all that much nutrition that could be lost other than maybe vit A? Unless it is bleached, in which case all bets are off)

Extras - go for bike ride with kids, go for a swim somewhere, spend some time sorting out the garage, finish off one or more of the existing list (crochet blanket is nearly done, pantry just needs the last of the spices either put away or chucked), modify spice shelf (contemplating taking top off, and adding more hooks. Or replacing). If IKEA is open, buy drawers; buy muesli makings; make muesli; roast capsicums; sort out passports

Today is the third in a row that I've cycled up to Mount Henry Bridge, done a tiny circuit on the open air equipment, and ridden home again. As day 1 I rode behind youngest pretty much all the way, and thus it felt easy and untiring, and yesterday I overdid things on the way home, made my lungs close up and my legs revolt, such that I had to walk up one of the slopes (they are not hills, but sometimes they feel like it), I figure that the times are a bit inaccurate, and won't be paying attention.

And because I'm thinking of going a little further each day (today I did a bog lap of the bridge itself - for those not familiar, it is a two level bridge, with the lower level only being pedestrian/bike paths, one either side of the central concrete 'lump', connected by tunnels at each end), I don't want to track the whole time, or the going there time, because it is going to fluctuate erratically. So instead, I'm going to keep track of the coming home, from just before I get on the bike, to when my feet are on the driveway and the only bit of my on the bike is my hands. Today I managed 21 minutes, which according to google maps (when I could force it to see things my way) is 5.4 km. Respectable, if nothing flash.

As to today's daily plan? 'Tis Saturday, so it is housework day. But as we have a social gathering in the Hills at 1pm, and I'm hoping to do at least one errand on the way, I'm thinking aiming to get 1 hour of housework is at least optimistic and at best do-able. And this might mean that the 'clean bedroom and lounge room' might get ticked off as well (I did a chunk of shopping yesterday, plus some pottering around, and have nearly finished the crochet blanket while waiting for the movie session, which was significantly later than we had been told)
