Welcome to indiemixtape! We love to see your mixes but before posting a request for songs, check the tags (they're over on the right) and see if we've already got you covered.
i'm looking for big, sad, sweeping, preferably orchestral songs. songs with that big heart-swell kind of feeling, almost like a movie soundtrack. like these:
farewell / goodbye - m83
the lull - cat's eyes
last night i dreamt that somebody loved me - the smiths
the predatory wasp... - sufjan stevens
conversation 16 - the national
and i remember every kiss - jens lekman (a little sadder and less pomp and circumstance though)
even something like little motel by modest mouse - definitely acceptable
any help at all would be greatly appreciated!! also, if there's something i missed in the tags that would help me out, very sorry and would accept a redirect to that post if that's the case.
in return, will post the mix when it's done. thanks in advance!
P.S. by the way, totally tried to tag this with stuff like "big" "epic" and "orchestral" but LJ said i had exceeded the number of tags allowed per journal? idk. sorry mods.

I'm seeing a girl who happens to be from Minneapolis, and, well, I'm smitten with her. This might be a long shot, but I'm looking for a few songs that reference Minnesota or Minneapolis and are somewhat romantic (or at least ambiguously not-not-romantic).
I was thinking that the Hold Steady, Hüsker Dü, or Dylan might work, but I haven't found any of their songs that satisfy both conditions. Help from any Minnesota natives (or... Minnesota enthusiasts) would be very appreciated!
I am in dire need of assistance. My boyfriend and I are having, basically, a fuckfest on Monday. We usually just turn on the radio but I'd rather not listen to Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" every fucking time.
The problem is that he is one of those bloghouse types. He likes Justice, MSTRKRFT, and all sorts of other bands that seem to fade as fast as they came. He also likes Matt & Kim. He's not big on "fluffy" music, a.k.a. my taste in music which is far more acoustic and slow (Beirut, Deerhunter, etc.)
Is there a happy medium? Are there any bloghouse songs that are just too good? Any single albums we could play through?
Help ALWAYS appreciated, my dears. You are all the best.
or ones that say 'we've been through a lot but only good things can come to us', or anything that has to do with overcoming something and still being together.
i'll be with my boyfriend for six months and want to make him a mix as a simple yet effective way of saying "i love you". (:
So, i'm looking for love/happy songs which can be about romance or friendship, but they have to have a specific sound. It's sort of a sleepy-acoustic sound similar to something like Peter Broderick's 'And It's Alright'. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
