Welcome to indiemixtape! We love to see your mixes but before posting a request for songs, check the tags (they're over on the right) and see if we've already got you covered.

Mix away!

i'd rather be with you...

I am making a cd for someone i like alot, however i feel like i am going a bit to mushy. Can anyone help me find some songs that are just about having fun with someone, genuinely love being with someone. Songs like:

Its Always Better- I Hate Kate
My Time With You - Kina Grannis
Around The Clock- The Rocket Summer

any thoughts?

P.s. extra points for ideas about the title of the mix

Songs needed

So, i'm looking for love/happy songs which can be about romance or friendship, but they have to have a specific sound. It's sort of a sleepy-acoustic sound similar to something like Peter Broderick's 'And It's Alright'. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

a very adorable boy suggested that we make cds/mixes for each other, containing our favorite songs/songs that are pretty, feel good, relaxing or cute.

(you'll notice some bands have been repeated, and this is only because those songs were ones i mentioned to him specifically).

Sep. 4th, 2009

Ok so in two days I'm moving to the UK. I have to take an 8.5 hour flight and not only am I leaving my whole family and my friends, but I hate flying. So I'm going to pop a vicodin and if I'm not passed out I'd like to listen to an iPod full of happy songs.

SO! Happy songs! Happy, smiley, etc. Anything that's like "I love my life" kinda crap. Or anything that puts you in a good mood, lifts your spirits, stops you from crying about leaving, that sorta thing. Also songs about going overseas/over the pond would also be favorable. Oh and songs about train trips, cause I'll be taking one of those too. (a real train, not just subways)

Favourite uplifting/amusing/happy lyrics? The ones that always make you smile.

I've been a bad way the last month or so and one friend in particular has been incredibly helpful/understanding. I want to make her a mix about witches, witchcraft and magic, which she's really into, to say thanks and we'll always have each other.

She's not very indie but I'm working on her, so anything upbeat and positive would help ease the transition. Mainstream is also highly appreciated - I want witches! Haha.

All I have so far is Bloc Party's 'Hunting for Witches'.

Thanks.x

mix for a boy who loves showtunes.

i thought about making a friend of mine a mix cd. however, i only know him from a theatrical standpoint (we both love reefer madness and will burst into "romeo and juliet" at any given notice).  apart from our love of theatre/musicals/showtunes, i wish i could be better friends with him.  what do you guys think is the best way to say "i really think you're awesome and if we hung out more then i wouldn't feel so awkward around you other than showtunes time?"  through music (besides "we are going to be friends" by the white stripes and "in the aeroplane over the sea" by neutral milk hotel ;])  also, a part of me has a small crush on him. like the kind where you know nothing will come of it yet you that this person complements your personality better than anyone else could. and someone who understands you even though you don't talk to them on a daily basis.

a short poem i wrote that perhaps can help with the music suggestions:

</div>
i made this mix for a couple of reasons:
1. my cousin just got married, and im flat broke.
2. i really want to fall in love with someone.
3. its adorable.

for some reason, lj wont let me post the embedded code here.
so here's the link to my mix

track listing
1. mushaboom- feist
2. your song- elton john
3. naked as we came- iron and wine
4. island in the sun- weezer
5. i got you babe- sonny and cher
6. 2 atoms in a molecule- noah and the whale
7. brand new colony- the postal service
8. do you realize?- the flaming lips
9. hotel song- regina spektor

happy happy joy joy!

i need songs that are upbeat and fun, and ALWAYS cheer you up. maybe some indie pop?

i'm making a cd to cheer up a friend, so please suggest away! :)
