◆How does a narrative essay centered on fashion come together? In “Afterword –Hilda's Voice–,” I explain the creative techniques used in each piece. At the end, I also introduce the next piece◆
It’s Hilda.
After reading ▷ Ep.6 The Ghost ◁, what has stayed in your heart? Actually, I’d had this piece in mind since before the series even started―it was the one I wanted to write the most. I’m really, really glad it’s finally out!!
As I mentioned in ▷ Ep.5 Afterword – Hilda’s Voice – ◁, the pieces themed around personal style analysis have come to a pause. So I’m weaving fashion and heart from a different angle.
Now, about this piece. There were 2 main things I had in mind from the very start of planning it.
1. A theme you can experience
This time, the theme is “trends.” I think it could also be written from perspectives such as marketing or design theory, but many people have already done that. So rather than having you learn about trends by reading, this piece focuses on letting you experience them. Instead of describing specific outfits or items, the concept of “trends” is expressed in every chapter. There are metaphors scattered throughout the piece, and I’d be happy if you found them.
2. Intersecting perspectives
The story unfolds as the perspectives of two characters intersect. I structured it in a way that these shifts in viewpoint lead into that “experience of trends.” Trends change little by little over time, and when you notice them, they’ve already turned into a major shift―This story depicts that process. Also, in one chapter I deliberately use a perspective that doesn’t belong to either of them. It’s the spice that throws the ending into question for a moment. I hope you’ll look for it.
Lastly, I’d like to introduce the next piece.
The next theme is "leopard print"—a pattern I really love!
