How true. A coward knows no courage, yet recklessness is not bravery. Only those who strike the balance—bold when boldness is required, cautious when caution is wise—deserve the name of the brave. To master that balance is itself the highest courage.

和訳↓：
本物の勇気とは臆病と無鉄砲のちょうど中間にある。

言い得て妙。臆病者は当然勇気があるとは言えないが、さりとて、ただただ無鉄砲なだけでもやはり勇者とは言えない。向かうべきときは果敢に向かうけれども、恐るべきときは恐れる、その兼ね合いをきちんと心得ている者が真の勇者の名に値する。が、その兼ね合いが実は難しい。
