4th of July

Yeah! I am actually posting about something the same month it happened!
Our 4th of July weekend consisted of going to church and the town parade. We didn't even do any fireworks, not even the sparklers we had left over from last year. What duds we are! I feel bad because the kids had so much fun seeing the fireworks display last year in Logan and they love to do fireworks! It is mainly poor planning on my part and then the whole fiasco we had with the bunk beds. I absolutely love the 4th so next year we will party like it's 1999! (I am such a nerd sometimes)!

Sunday July 3rd:
The babies haven't been in most of our Sunday pictures lately. They tend to stay awake all of church and fall asleep on the way home. I need to be more prepared and leave time to take the picture before we go to church. These two are just so funny together! They usually just want to do a funny picture, but I think they really do love our little tradition!

My mother-in-law mentioned that her dressed looked similar to last years, so I added a few pictures to show the difference. They are definitely similar, but last years was more vintageish.

Spencer and Addy matched last year. I wish they had matching again because Spencer asks all the time if he can match his sisters.

This is a closer look of what they are holding. We made these earlier in the week and Clif thought they might want to hold them in their pictures.

July 4, 2011
Addy was in the parade with her ballet studio. They have you wear their hair back in a pony tail (good thing she has grown it out) and make-up. I really wanted to do her hair in a fun 4th of July do, but once I saw how uniformed the studio looked I understood.
She looks so different with make-up on! Her eyes just pop! For her ballet performance she has to wear darker eye-shadow and lipstick too!

Here she is a few days before with her practice make-up on. She did this pose on her own. I think I have a model on my hands!

Here we are at the parade.

Spencer scored 3 otter pops, a moose bar, and tons of candy! We had a good spot!
I had to chase the float down the road to get these pictures. She was on the wrong side of us.

 Not the happiest picture.
 3 sweet sisters.

For the finale of our 4th of July Addy can finally reach the pedals of the bike we got her over a year ago.

Fun Hairdos!

I have been trying to different hairdos no that Addy's hair is getting longer. I usually pick the hairdos that would work for shorter hair and that don't look too time consuming! However, lately the ones I have picked have been a lot harder than they look!
I tried to do one today and it took 2 shows and I still wasn't done because I couldn't quite figure out how to make her french bread lose enough. I was supposed to weave the twists I had done through the french braid. I think I will save that one for when her hair gets longer.

Here is what I did Sunday 7/24/2011.

Here is what it is supposed to look like. I think I got pretty close.

Have to include their Sunday pictures. Such tan kiddos we have! Really surprises me that their hair doesn't turn blonder too.

Fun twists.

I had to add this picture. She fell asleep one night while I was trying to see if I could figure out how to do it. Too funny.

Too fun

Clif took the big kids swimming so I got to stay and have some fun with my little girls. They decided that they needed to take a ride in the grocery cart! The 3 of us had a lot of fun...until I took out Allyson without thinking (I am so sorry Haleigh)!

I tried Allyson first and she was so loving it!
I love it mom! (A)

Haleigh is in front and Allyson in back. She clearly loves it too!

Allyson gets a turn in front now.

Addelyn's Surgery

Last Friday, July 15th, Addy got her tonsils and adenoids out. We had to be at Primary Children's at 6:30 in the morning(meaning we had to leave at 5:30). Which on a good day wouldn't sound fun for me, but with staying up late to pack for the weekend trip to Logan and the anxiety of her operation/Spencer, I only got an hour of sleep. Let's just say I am a worrier by nature, which is why I was worrying about Spencer and Addy being separated for the first time ever. However, I feel that I stay calm really well for my kids and I rely a lot on pray.

Here is Addy in the car getting ready to go to Primary's. She looks really good for so early in the morning!

Once we got there and registered, it was just a waiting game until surgery. Here she is playing in the first waiting room in her new pajamas and twin baby dolls.

When they called us back they had Addy change into some generic hospital gowns. Oh was she not happy! Of course my child would be the one more worried about what she was wearing then the surgery itself. (Not that you would know this from how I dress, but have always loved clothes and love to dress my kids cute).
When I was little I went with my parents and brother to the Open House of the Denver, Colorado Temple. At the time you had to put these blue slippers on your feet in order to go in. I refused to go in and no matter what my parents said I would not budge. Eventually, they agreed to let me dad carry me (what a great dad).

This is not a staged frown.
She cheered up once we got to the next waiting room and saw all the other kids in their gowns too.

The most memorable experience from this day was a little girl in the waiting room. Her parents had talked to us previously when they saw us with the twins, because their daughter was a twin too (so far she was the first to get her tonsils out). Well, she had been given something for her anxiety of the situation (they ask you if your child will need this when the nurse brings you back) and she was such a hoot! She is was basically having a party with herself and laughing! (Probably what a kid would be like if they got drunk). She was definitely relaxed....which got me worried that I hadn't had Addy have it. However, when they came to get her she did a great job! I walked with her until the yellow line and then they took her hand and walked away. I couldn't get my camera our fast enough, but it was really a cute sight; this tall anesthesiologist holding my small little girl's hand.

The surgery went rather quickly and everything went really smoothly. Dr. Ventura said everyone just loved and doted on Addy. I was anxious to see her because they warned me that some kids are very upset afterwards and I didn't know what to expect.

She was very tired and very quiet- of course she wasn't feeling well. She had some "angry" moments where she wanted out of the bed so I could hold her and when she didn't want me making her drink anymore, but other than that she was great!

We had to stay there for awhile because she couldn't keep anything down and they wanted to make sure she could drink 4oz. before she left. After she got all the blood out of her we convinced her to drink all of her juice so she could go see Papa.
 Clif took this picture...poor girl.
Haleigh & Allyson oblivious to what is going on.

She had a hard next few days, mainly due to the Lortab. It would make her sleepy, but then she wouldn't want to sleep because she felt better and she would have some nasty tantrums. The first day (Friday) it was all about me and her. She was just in pain and not feeling well, understandably of course. Saturday, she was not happy with me for awhile there (Lortab). Sunday she insisted on going to church and so she we went to Sacrament and the first part of nursery. I think she really wanted to give Sister Cook her thank you card for the get well gift she had brought. Then Monday she took a long nap, but was basically feeling really well. I rotated Tylenol and Ibprofen on Monday and then for the rest of the week she didn't need anything. She is doing so well and even slept in until 9:30 the other morning- I wish every morning was like that!
I am so glad she healed so quickly and I am so hoping I don't have to do anything like this again, I don't think my mom's heart can stand it (or mine)! However, while we were in the waiting room there were so many parents there with their kids that had much more serious surgeries. One of the girls was in a wheelchair and her surgery was going to be 5 hours long. I saw many kids with different problems and I realized how grateful I am to have 4 beautiful, healthy babies. I don't want to ever take that for granted. We are so blessed! I can't wait to have more!

Here she is on Sunday. Still as sweet as ever, she sure loves her brother!

Haleigh's Cast #2

I am SO far behind on posts! Each day I think of something else I haven't posted about! So nothing is really in order, but I will always write the dates and am working hard to do everything I missed! One day (maybe) I will be able to be caught up!

Almost exactly a month after Haleigh got her cast removed (April 19th), she fell and broke her leg again (May 20th)!
I was cleaning the kids bathroom and thought that Haleigh would like to be able to see me so I propped her up on Addy's twin bed (the first time I had put her on a bed without someone sitting on it with her since her first fall).  I was watching her and cleaning the bathroom when Addy came into the bathroom and slipped in some water from Spencer's bath. I went to help her and wipe down the water when I heard a thunk! In the midst of everything I had totally forgotten about her. I felt so bad that it was her who fell on my watch, AGAIN! I also immediately knew she must have broken it because she was acting identically to the time before. I kept thinking that it couldn't be possible though because this was such a shorter distance and there is no way she could have broken it! Clif didn't think she broke it, but as the night went on, I knew for sure she had. She was in so much pain and even ibprofen didn't calm her down for very long. We were able to stop giving it to her once they cast her leg. Oh what did parents do in the olden days?

Haleigh with her splint.

I jinxed myself by saying in my post that I would know what not to do if this ever happened again. Well, I got the opportunity to see! I was able to get a hold of my doctor (I used to teach his daughter) and he was so kind to meet me and order an x-ray for Haleigh. He found that her left leg was broken in the exact same spot that her right leg had been. He also prescribed some Tylenol with codeine it in, but told us to use it only if needed. Unfortunately, if I even went any longer than 4 hours without giving her any she would cry in so much pain. I felt so incredibly bad for her and I just felt so incredibly bad in general! He also told me if anyone at the orthopedic office even looked at me weird to have them call him right away. Thankfully, we didn't have any problems. When we went in on the 25th the doctor was so smitten with my children that he was more concerned with wanting to take one of them home than anything else! I did ask if he thought she had brittle bones since she had broken this bone so easily (so it seemed). He said her bones looked good and we could get her tested if we wanted, but most likely it would just be a lot of money and pain for them to most likely tell us to be more careful. So, as long as she doesn't break anymore bones in the near future we won't be getting any testing done.

Kiddos with their sister. I love their smiles!  Addy's position looks like a studio picture!

Pretty blue eyes!

Addy couldn't see what they were doing, so she squeezed in-between the nurses to see! Too funny!
Cast done! I can relax now!
First cast/Second cast.

She did really well with her cast considering she was really wanting to crawl/ roll around. I thought she would crawl the day she got it off! She had a harder time with this cast since it was a little more bulky.Thank goodness she only had to have it one for 3 weeks again!

June 15th- Yeah, time to get it off!
One last picture with it on.

Playing in the wait room. We had to wait for at least an hour. Some of the kids came out with another cast on and the old on their hands! I was so worried that she would have to wear it longer too.
 Off it goes! YES!
Happy as a clam! Would you believe the first thing she does is almost roll of the table!
 Two cute kiddos!
One of my favorite of them!
 It is 100% fixed!
Time to go home!
Now this is the end for Haleigh and casts! (It better be anyways)!
