First day of preschool

August 29 - Kayla's first day of preschool! No tears (from Kayla or me. Haha) when saying "goodbye" at dropoff . She just said "bye" with a big smile and she said she had fun when we picked her up.

More places to nap

August 20 - Sleeping in a tunnel toy we got her.

August 26 - Sleeping on Kayla's Minnie pillow.

Preschool Open House

August 25 - Kayla started preschool this year at the Learning Tree. Same place that Luke went to preschool and she has the same teacher that Luke had, which is nice. They had an Open House one day so everyone could see the classrooms and kids could meet their teachers. Kayla was pretty excited about going there and she kept asking if it was time for preschool in the days leading up to her first day.

New places to nap

August 18 - Chloe doesn't do this anymore, but for a while I would find her napping in Kayla's high chair.

Moxi

August 17 - Went to MOXI for a little bit with the kids.

The kids made candles in the workshop that day. They attached a wick to the candle holder, then poured melted wax in them.

Kimi's baby shower

August 5 - A little out of order here with my posts, but that's OK. My mom and I hosted a baby shower for Kimi and we went with a tropical theme.

I made the invitations, including diaper raffle tickets (everyone who brought a pack of diapers were entered into a raffle drawing for a prize), and a little card asking people to bring baby books instead of cards.

The food table.

I made the banner and the garland on the table using my cutter machine.

My mom made all the centerpieces. She decorated each of those boxes with different faces on each side. Auntie Susan had put together the picture stands with Kimi's baby pictures.

I made lemonade with a little bit of blue Kool-Aid mix to make it a pretty blue/green color.

We got food from L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

I made these "oyster" cookies using Nilla Wafters, frosting, and Sixlet chocolate candies for the pearls.

One of the games we played was the Poopy Diaper game, where we put melted chocolate bars in diapers and everyone tried to guess what candy bars they were. This was a game Kimi arranged at my baby shower for Luke, so my mom and I thought it would be fun to do it for her.

A couple people decided to try tasting the chocolate in the diaper. This is Yoona and the look on her mom's face is hilarious! Haha!

DeeDee tasted one of them too.

The other game we played was Emoji Pictionary. I thought they'd be pretty easy, but most people could only get a few them. Only one person, who is a preschool teacher, was able to get them all.

I ordered the cake from Vons and got a call from them the morning of the shower, which I missed because I was still asleep, saying they didn't have the little stork decoration. When I called the bakery department the guy said he had already driven to one of the other Vons locations that had the stork, and it seemed like I should've been grateful that he "went through the trouble" of tracking down a stork. Gee, thanks for doing your job. That was annoying, but the cake tasted good.

A special Grandma DeeDee blanket that every kid loves.

These were the favors. My mom made the boxes with Kim's face Photoshopped onto a picture of Kobe Bryant's baby bundled up. Haha. She also made the little pacifiers, and put together the little pineapple boxes, which I had cut on my cutter machine. I made the onesie lollipops with candy melts and everyone got one of the oyster cookies.

Close-ups of all the Tiki centerpiece boxes.

I think my mom and I did a pretty good job hosting, but we were definitely exhausted for a day or two after it was all over!

My Gym camp & pool

August 16 - Got to My Gym to pick up Kayla from camp just in time to see her do "Space Flight".

Went to the pool with Ricardo and Adrian that afternoon.

Moxi

August 11 - When we had gone to MOXI on Luke's birthday, we decided to get an annual membership because the amount we paid that first visit could go towards a membership, and it had cost enough that it just made sense to go for the membership. So, I took the kids for a couple hours one afternoon.

Kayla's drawing

August 9 - I don't remember what she said all those lines around the face were. Whiskers? Hair?

Fetch

August 4 - We discovered Chloe likes to play fetch. Kimi had given us a bunch of cat toys, and Chloe likes to chase some of the mice.

Baseball camp

August 4 - Luke did a week of the Full Count Fundamentals baseball camp. Unfortunately, he only got to do one session (the last one) because the coach had to cancel the second session due to low enrollment. He always has fun there, though, which is good. He even had a couple Mud Cats teammates there that week too.

Chloe photoshoot

August 3 - Went a little crazy taking photos of Chloe. 😄

This was one of the photos I sent to ASAP when they followed up with me about how we were doing with Chloe. I told them she's the perfect kitty for us because she's so friendly, cuddly, and not skittish at all, even when we have guests at the house.

I also sent this one to ASAP.

Caught her checking out the fish.
